Fighting words insulting Pepsi.

The Pepsi paradox. In a blind test, most people prefer Pepsi. Yo, yo, it's science, Mr. White. Baylor College of Medicine actually performed fMRI studies on this. The average human brain prefers Pepsi.

But in a non-blind test, Coke wins.

Branding is incredibly powerful. Perhaps the branding by Coke overcomes the physiological response? I know the Polar bear ads make me want a coke, but only if the polar bear is on the can.

It's why State and Ole Miss are still confused. Mississippi sucks at branding. Coke does not.

I took one of those blind Pepsi challenges at a waterpark in the 90s. I was supposedly tasting Pepsi, Coke, and Dr Pepper. The Pepsi was cold and fresh - the other two were warm and flat... I swore off Pepsi after that just because it was so bogus.

Back to original topic - I'm surprised to hear prices aren't higher. I dipped in highschool / late 90s and remember prices were around $2.75 when I started, then had gone up closer to $3.25 when I quit 2 years later. Sounds like they haven't changed much in 20 years since.

I bought neither. Happy to report I’ve not had a dip or chew since the 1st week of January 2018. No telling how much money I spent on smokeless tobacco over the last 34 yrs.

With an 10.5% SP500 return, it would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 317k for 34 years.
