What is your early assessment of this team, the xfers, coaching, etc?

I don't follow enough college ball to really know what to think about this team.

Hard to tell without seeing them play together. Saturday Down South gave this portal class a C-.

On paper, it’s the worst team in the SEC. We are in bad shape at center. Essandoko is a turnover machine, and as much as people say “he can shoot,” the stats don’t back up that claim. Let’s put it this way—we have a guy that is statistically worse than BBV turnover wise, and not in the same vicinity as Pringle in scoring around the basket (which is really saying something). Butler is an intriguing piece if he develops, but he’s going to need to take a major step forward.

At PG, we are relying on Meechie and Ellis. I think it’s a huge mistake not to bring in a proven point guard. Meechie and Ellis both play more like small 2s, and Ellis is a freshman. Not a recipe for success.

I like the Mike S. Portal addition. He is a plus defender and his length is interesting on offense. We obviously have taken a hit talent wise at PF with CMB leaving. I think we are better at 3 this season.

ultimately these roster moves were almost opposite of what we did last recruiting class. We went with less athleticism and more offensive skill.
It will all come down to will the whole be better than the sum of the parts.

I think the "SEC Media" voted that tournament team last place or 14 out of 14 and then last year teams 11 out of 16.

I guess in a way they were only a year off, from when we did finish last?
