it's still a cool thing. It's not like we wrote #GUARANTEEDWIN or something. I'd be OK if we'd done it against Alabama.

You know, since that's what it says? Also, the only result I happened to click on called it absurd, so I'm not sure that's a positive.

and you will see it on several popular sports blogs. I didn't see any negative comments from the actual bloggers.

And regardless, its all about people talking. Just like Maryland's hideous unis. People were talking about Maryland.

Are we going to be named the coolest school ever ? no.. but it's fine and let's see what we do with it before we attempt to be a bunch of stupid rednecks that are pissed off that our "Miss State" isn't painted in the endzone

Has any other school done this before? If not, great "thinking out of the box" by our guys. Plus it's just the damn endzone, it's not like we painted the f'n field blue like Boise St. If it generates a buzz, good for us.

I have never used Twitter, but may sign up to see what this is all about - so I would score this as a win.

Well, maybe I overstated it a little. Here is the link I was referring to. I should not have said it came up "a lot." I saw it only here. I guess I think it's lame, so I was projecting off this one occurrence of the word. Anyway, it's probably not as bad as I said. I am not afraid of change or technology. I just love the games in their pure and traditional forms and get a little suspicious of changes in the pomp and circumstance of my favorite game. The game day atmosphere is awesome these days, but it won't stay that way if we don't keep winning. These stylistic touches may be nice but the bottom line is lining up and playing good football.

Coming from a current student, I'm happy we have an athletic dept that continues to find new ways to promote MS State. However, I still think this is #embarrassing

Our pure and traditional form is being in the gutter of the SEC getting our asses handed to us on the field and in recruiting. I think the time for clinging to our "tradition" needs to come to an end. Not everything we try is going to be a home run, and they may make some traditionalists feel a bit nervous, but for the love of God it's time for us to try something different.

The hashtag end zone is a "Welcome to Our State" billboard for the entire world to see.Whether people like it or not, this is already a success.<div>
</div><div>Someone in our athletic department knows Doc Brown. For once, we are well ahead of the curve. Just embrace it.</div>

Who the hell do you think gives two ***** about this game that doesn't live in Mississippi? Your billboards get more exposure than this stunt will.

If no one gives two *****, then what's wrong with doing it? According to you, all our marketing efforts are falling on deaf ears anyway. Butevidentlynot. <div>...dubmass.</div>

The only thing I said was that no one outside of Mississippi gives two ***** about this game. Your insecurities inferred the rest. ...genius.

Maybe people tune in to see the crazy school that put a hashtag in their endzone. Maybe we destroy the Bears with them watching. Maybe we get some more fans out of the deal. Maybe we create some good buzz. Maybe they start following some our coaches and administrators on Twitter. Maybe that leads to an increased national base for enrollment. And so on...

And maybe it doesn't.

But I'd rather give it a shot than sit around and tell othershow poor they arewhile my own house iscrumbling.

But I think most people aren't going to see past the fact that its two teams with losing records playing a game that only means a trip to Memphis for one of them. And for the record, I'm not entirely convinced that the hashtag thing is a bad idea. I just think y'all held this card for a bit too long.

Do you mean you hate that it's unveiled when playing your bears?<div>And don't worry, if nobody cares about this game, then nobody will be watching to see the endzone's message. And all the publicity it is garnering right now will just keep people from having to watch the game and suffer thru watching two pathetic teams play. Now do you feel better?</div>

We're counting on them not.

This game nust mean a lot more to MSU fans than it apparently does to Ole Miss fans. At least that's the attitude y'all are trying to push on all of us. What we all really know is that it's going to eat you up if we beat you to get bowl eligible. It's also going to make your freaking year if you beat us to keep us at home. Conversely, it's going to completely ruin the season for MSU fans if we lose, and we'll take even more satisfaction in beating Ole Miss to get bowl eligible. Anyone who says otherwise is lying. Or trying to be awesome on the internet.

The hashtag and the gold is to get people to notice. Just because they don't care now, do we just accept that and continue business as usual? Or do we try something a little out there and try to get noticed. I fully expect Ole Miss fans to tell us how much other people don't care about it. I fully expect us to ignore them and try to get people to care.</p>

But that's very likely not going to happen. Anyone who keeps up with college football knows this. I was just just thinking that unveiling a new marketing strategy would be better suited to a game with more national interest.

depends what other games out here areon. Ppl here watch....I get text during the games all the time. The local 11:00 game on fox is the early SEC game of the week. So to what DS said, people outside of miss with no allegiance will watch in Texas...though it may be flipping back and forth. yes,I think they will notice the endzone. I don't care if we offend or piss them off or fire up their players or whatever. when the ball gets kicked off it will be the same as it ever was hashtag or no hashtag.

It shouldn't bother them at all......hail state has zero to do with them. It is our fight song.
