what positive takeways can you glean from today's game?

Perhaps unfairly, I'll get out in front and acknowledge two(?) decent passes Doege made.

Anything else? Did kneel and the offense with Doege show you anything to be optimistic about for next week?

Because I see empty Mountaineer Stadiums and disengaged players in WVU's immediate future.

Change my mind.

Its a weird conundrum for sure. This team has an average recruiting ranking in the 70's, but is definitely out performing its ratings based expectations, and the biggest reason for that is the quality of this staff.

However, there are some obvious areas in which this staff can improve, just like there are some obvious areas this roster needs to improve before we can take a serious leap forward. Which NB is surely doing, so time is the only solution to the primary issues.

Due to the extreme deviation of what NB inherited, in all honesty its still to early to really analyze this staff. Last year, it was the IowaSt game, and even great teams **** the bed 1 game per season... To see the level of change we wanted to see, combined with what was inherited, this is a 5-9 year process. Clemson is a shining example of the fanbase being rewarded with patience with an unproven P5 HC. I see many similarities between Dabo & Brown, from a style, culture, & attitude perspective.

It def wasnt pretty today, but.... if I could take away something positive, would be the staff's halftime adjustments, the offense scoring more then 3 points in the second half, and the heart to fight its way back into the game.

Perspective, if it’s still allowed.

All games are not final but already SEVEN Top 25 teams lost today. 3 others won by a TD or less.

#3 Oregon lost to 2-2 Stanford, 31-24

#6 Oklahoma (5-0) beat 2-2 Kansas State by 6 points, 37-31

#8 Arkansas couldn’t even score a point against #2 Georgia, 37-0

#9 Notre Dame lost to unbeaten #7 Cincinnati, 24-13

#10 Florida lost to unbeaten unranked Kentucky, 20-1

#12 Ole Miss (3-0) was hammered by Alabama, 42-21

#15 Texas A&M lost to 2-2 Mississippi State, 26-22

#21 unbeaten Baylor lost to #19 Oklahoma State, 24-14

#23 North Carolina State only beat 2-2 Louisiana Tech by 7, 34-27

#24 unbeaten Wake Forest only beat 2-2 Louisville by 3, 37-34

WVU lost to 4-1 Texas Tech, 23-20. The 3 Mountaineer losses came by a combined 12 points!

No team can just romp against my alma mater.

Maryland, which escaped WVU, 30-24, has lost only to #5 Iowa.

Virginia Tech, which lost to WVU, 27-21, has beaten all of its other opponents so far.

#6 Oklahoma, which escaped WVU, 16-13, is unbeaten but has beaten all other opponents by more than 3 points.

Texas Tech, which escaped WVU, 23-20, has lost only to Texas by a whopping 70-35.

There has not been a team able to beat WVU by as much as a TD.

The Mountaineers, thanks to their awesome defense (30, 0, 21, 16 and 23), can stay in the game with anyone not named Alabama.

Sure, 2-3 doesn’t sit well by me. But, again, perspective, if it’s allowed.

Not really. I’m specifically talking about this team, this personnel, this coaching, this schedule. I don’t care about Cincinnati or Oregon or Baylor. I care about WVU. It’s the only team I ever care about. How confident are you in THIS team?
