National Signing Day can't get here soon enough. I live in BFE Mississippi. I'm in a small mom and pop grocery store last night and I happen to be wearing a MSU t-shirt. Some idiot Ole Miss fan I don't know walks up to me to talk recruiting smack. "You guys may have won the Egg Bowl but we are going to beat your *** in recruiting this year and within a year or two, Mullen won't be able to touch Ole Miss." I was completely taken back. First, I looked at him to make sure I hadn't forgotten him from, hell I don't know where, my kids' schools or something. After figuring out I didn't know the guy, I just said, "Huh, we'll see. Do you know what isle the Tylenol is on?" just to change the subject and this idiot actually said "yeah, you gonna need it."

Alright folks, I know recruiting is a big deal to some people. Not so much to me. I'm glad to hear that we get a good recruit and I enjoy reading about some of it on here, but give me a damn break. Please, for the love of all that is right in the world, if you see someone wearing a college athletics shirt of your rival that you don't know, talking recruiting smack probably isn't the best thing to start up a conversation. There's a good possibility they don't give a damn, and they probably will categorize you as a douche. First impressions you know.

I live over 700 miles from the state of Mississippi. I have an MSU sticker on my truck. Two weeks ago I was at World Market with the wife and kid. We came out to my truck after shopping and I had a note under the windshield wiper. It said, "Hotty Toddy". Now I thought that was pretty damn funny. Walking up to a stranger and talking recruiting smack is about as dorky as it gets.

I don't know. If Bruiser is in his 50's, has a pot belly, and has that hitchhiker dirty look. It's a possibility.

The recruiting smack just blew me away. I was stunned. The funny thing is, if my 17 year old son would have been there, he would have been on that guy like white on rice. That kid knows eveything when it comes to recruiting, stats, etc and MSU. I told him about it and he told me that he was going to the grocery store from now on for me. And If the guy had been a kid, I would have laughed this off, but damn, a grown *** man? It was just odd and I never thought I would have that conversation.

I had some fun banter with a current OM student during the holidays while I was inMS visiting. His hatred for Mullen was easily parallel to what I used to see from students when Jackie was our coach. I think the most ironic part of the entire conversation was hearing an OM fan ***** about Mullen being "smug". Of all fanbases to not like someone who is smug, OM has no leg to stand on. Afterall, they are the Harvard of the south.

Travelling to midweek basketball games to sit with you is my proof. Plus 4 years as a student while Crooms was coach didn't turn me away. That is deep roots right there I tell ya.

We're so deep in the Reb's heads were digging up repressed memories of a brief, homosexual time in their early teens.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

.. OM fan thinks there is no way in hell MSU can ever out recruit the University of Mississippi. And don't start in with facts; facts hold on bearing on this issue.

Ole Miss is better, richer, has a more cherished football legacy & won a bunch of important **** before JFK moved the troops into Oxford.

When the final recruiting rankings come out next week, & every paper & website has MSU's class ranked ahead of Ole Miss, 50% of Ole Miss's fanbase will think it's a organized conspiracy against Ole Miss because "the liberal media hates our traditions."

Problem is, most a-holes who make stupid statements like that usually blindside you and you're too shocked to reply...or at least not on the alert. What you gotta do is have some handy answer you can say ahead of time...sort of like the 2003 Egg Bowl, when Swandawg 69 and I left the game in the middle of the third quarter and the Rebs ahead 24-0. It was raining, cold, and nasty, and we had a warm hotel bed waiting for us. Some Bear calls out, "Why's you's leaayving so early?" I held my hand out and replied, "I gotta warm bed, a bottle of wine, and a beautiful date waiting for me." As he reached out his hand to shake mine, I pulled mine back and said, "Uhhh, I don't want to be shaking hands with YOUR date."*

*-Okay, that story was complete ******** after the (then) Rebel fan called out to me. However, you think up these brilliant things long afterwards.
