I just don't think a committee will work. There are just too many Big 10 type people that are trying to find a free pass for one of their conference schools to get into the National Championship game without having to actually earn it. There are just to many agendas to have a committee. The NCAA basketball committee works because they are picking 64 or so teams, not 4.
Personally, I am ok with the BCS formula. I think it has done a great job of picking the top 2 teams. I don't see why it wouldn't do a great job at picking the top 4.
The NCAA Bball committee gets to choose 64+ teams, so the best teams in their conferences will make it....but asking a committee to choose 4-8 teams for a playoff, would end up as dirty as recruiting. There would be bias, agenda, and eventually money under the table. I'm sure every conference not named the SEC would be in favor of the Alvarez plan though...
at least ppl are talking about activating something new.
What HAS to happen is:
1) the coach's poll has to be eradicated
2) the computer rankings has to be more than tweaked. Margin of victory has to be back in the equation

If that was the case, you would think Boise or even Okie State would have made it into a national championship game. Do we really want to reward a weak schedule or punish outstanding defensive teams? Now, you may be right but I'm just trying to figure out your logic.
