i heard this weekend that 12 of our current commitments are his - including russell, cox, and mcphee. he is the best recruiter on staff (save, perhaps melvin smith).

stringer is back next year with a reassignment to OL. grimes will be gone. at least that's what i heard.

I've already heard one complaint against Stringer from a fan about the roughing the punter call being offset by the sideline interference. It wasn't the special teams that screwed up. It was the offensive line going onto the field while the play is still happening.

It is true that Stringer is possibly our BEST recruiter. He also has a lot of coaching potential. I don't believe he was ready to coach a position (TE) and special teams at the same time. Too much too soon for him. Too much responsibility before he was ready.

We need all the recruiters we can get, so if he's really pulling down the blue chips, just reassign him, or just take away ST duties, and use 150k to hire whoever has been around Frank Beamer for 3 or more years to coordinate special teams.

it just appears he lacks the cerebral matter to do it. I thought for sure when he was hired he would build a solid O-line, but for some reason he hasn't placed much importance on doing that. Everything else just goes downhill from there in my assessment of the situation. I know I should probably wait till the season is over before I make evaluations, but I can't help it. He sucks and is vastly overpaid.

I would kill for a 5 year gig making the cash he has with little to no accountability. He inherited an impossible situation so he shouldn't be held accountable until he says its time. The Peter Principle to the nth degree is fully in play here.

You won't find another coach on that squad that is more committed to building a program. He works his tail off. He got unjustly razed on national TV by the Walrus. He's the only guy on that staff that bleeds maroon, with maybe the exception of Felker, who I think that the game has passed him by.

Also, somebody told me that Croom stated that he backed off from the offensive interference and let the asst. call the plays. Is this true?

a damn since he's been back. He recruited Charles Mitchell and I can't recall who else he has signed. Melvin's tactics have long since gone by the wayside under this leadership.

wasn't it he that supposedly got into it with Freeze in Elliot's front yard, or whatever the untrue rumor was at the time?
