For those that are concerned about our lack of offense in baseball....

...and use of the dreaded B-word. It seems to me that Cohen has used his meager 11.7 schollys to overload on pitchers at the expense of signing hitters with a strategy to rely on pitching & D to shut down opponents and then win by scratching out runs playing small ball with a few good hitters and lot of mediocre ones. Hence the working the pitch count, trying to draw walks & HBP, using the b**t to move into scoring position and then rely on one of your few good hitters to get the RBI. The idea would be that pitching depth is the key to negotiating the grind of post season tourneys. Will it work? Dunno. It was good enough to win the SECT last year and get us in a super the year before. Hopefully it will take us even farther this season. The achilles heel seems to be that it does not help you as much in the regular season where pitching depth is not as much of a factor. I really want to win enough to host a regional this year.

Having so few that can reach the warning track keeps the PED testing expenses down.

Playing at home is key for MSU. Team is tailored around the ballpark. Good thing is, we have 37 out of 56 games at home, which should help us win enough to host that regional you speak of, which in turn will help us win it.

The elephant in the room is that we scored over twice as often in man on first no outs not b**ting last year

And don't come back with "well maybe we just b**ted our bad hitters in man on first, no out," WRONG We spread it out remarkably evenly with nobody doing it more that 3 times in league play. Every single starter did it at least twice. Frazier Renfroe etc 3 times.

Good pitching stops good hitting! Ask the Atlanta Braves who had Glavin, Maddox, Smoltz, etc., plus at least one or two long ball hitters! This team is a pitching team with a few good hitters! They have played five games and given up a total of three runs! Portland isn't a bad team at all!

They were 282nd in the NCAA in hitting last season

As a long-time Braves fan, I'm painfully aware of that group's postseason record. All pitching and no hitting can only take you so far.
