please rank where you think mullen falls amongst his following peers:

Nick Saban
Hugh Freeze
Les Miles
Will Muschamp
Steve Spurrier
James Franklin
Gary Pinkel
Mark Stoops
Mark Richt
Gus Malzahn
Bret Bielema
Butch Jones
Kevin Sumlin

no ********.....no crawfishing....where do you think dan mullen ranks against his sec peers in terms of coaching. its painfully evident where we stack up recruiting......13th out of 14, but from a strictly x's and o's standpoint, where do you think mullen ranks?

I think once you rank them all, you will begin to see the inevitability of mullens firing. compared to his peers, he is at the bottom of the list at nearly every category...........our 2.6 million aint buying what it once was.

feel free to stick up for mullen, but again, i must request that you rank him amongst his peers before you do so.

I think we have probably the worst staff around Dan probably in the sec. Part of that is Dan's fault but some of its what we pay assistants. I think we should give Dan another year with the agreement he overhauls staff and we give him the funds to get better coaches

agreed, we need better assistants for sure, but you violated the conditions of a pro-dan post. please rank dan amongst his peers.

I'd rank him 7th. Miles is over rated as a coach. Dan would do far better if he could recruit like that. I agree Dan's staff is what blows the most, but its his fault. He seems to only want assistants that bow down to him, not challenge him.

If this ship doesn't turn around now, we may have to question if our program has jumped the shark. Vandy and even Kentucky are getting good recruits now. If present trends continue, there won't be a single breather team in the SEC. We could slip to the bottom of the conference, much less the division.

It's all going to come down to recruting, and right now, we are not doing well with that. Hopefully the bears go sideways when they have to play Bama, Auburn, ATM and LSU in one stretch. Othewise, recruiting the uncommitted in-state talent could get very hard going forward. We MUST beat OM in-state in recruiting to avoid the SEC cellar.

Bottom tier. I don't know that we could hire a proven coach to get into top half. We'd have to take a chance and hope for the best

from an x's and o's standpoint or overall coaching ability, you would put dan 7th? ahead of whom exactly?

Saban
Spurrier
Rict
Freeze
Sumlin
Miles
Franklin
Muschamp
Bielema
Malzahn
Jones ? (murdered a decent w. kentucky plus his dick hangs low in the recruiting world)
Stoops ? (put up a hell of a better fight than we would have vs louisville plus his dick hangs low in the recruiting world)
Mullen
Pinkel (which might be an insult to pinkel's history of modest success)

Franklin has done nothing more than what Mullen has done at State. He is a successful coordinator who took a 2-3 win program and made them a bowl team. They still get raped by Florida, Georgia, and Carolina regularly. Say what you want about his recruiting, ours is still better.

Butch Jones just turned in the worst loss for Tennessee in over 100 years!! You can't be serious. The jury is still easily out if he's able to turn them around or not.

Malzahn took over an Arkansas State team that had won their conference and he...won the conference again. He didn't build anything there. As a head coach, he hasn't shown he can get a program to rebound.

Miles Jones Pinkle Stoops Bielema

*so, a national title winning coach (albeit a hapless one) (miles)
*a coached that turned a bottom dweller cincinnati into a big east conference champ in 2 seasons and on to a 10 win team (jones)
*a multi-big 12 divisional winner and one that has a 10 win season all while being employed as long as mullen has here (pinkel)
*an uproven hc (stoops)....i can actually agree somewhat with this one
*a coach that has had two 11 win seasons, a 10 win season, and an 8 win season all while mullen has been here in addition to winning the big 10 and going to multiple bcs games. (bielema)

you really think mullen is better than coaches that have won their division, coaches that have won their conference, coaches that have been to multiple bcs games, and a coach that has won a national title?

surely when it is stated like that, you cannot be serious.

im not sure you know the accolades of bielema, jones, miles, pinkel....it all beats the hell out of what mullen has done and in a comparable time span.

the only one out of those that i can see is possibly stoops, but he is killing it out on the recruiting trail.

why dont you rank them like i have asked? that would quantify how you feel and put in stone where you think things shake out.

malzahn just beat us with a qb that has only been on campus 5 weeks. malzahn is clearly a better coach than mullen.
franklin has a 9 win season (which equals mullens best effort), but i think it is fair to speculate on him.
jones has proven he can turn a 4 win team into a conference winner in a 2 season span and he currently has the second ranked recruiting class in the nation. mullens best attempt is 18-ish.

Mike Dantoni and Brian Kelly did all the heavy lifting to get Cincy out of the cellar. Jones stepped into a decent situation, but he did do a good job of not screwing things up (I think he's a WAY better coach than UT's last two).

But in the spirit of the thread, I can be all histrionic and cherry pick, too:
HE inherited a program that had been to TWO CONSECUTIVE BCS Bowls and proceeded to WIN FOUR GAMES!
He couldn't manage to win an outright championship in a football conference SO BAD IT DOESN'T EVEN EXIST ANYMORE!!!
(switching to smug douchebag mode)
His marquee wins include Vanderbilt and Duke. Which in another sport would be impressive.
Sure, he can win a Liberty Bowl, which is fine if that's all you expect your program to do.

(give him more than 2 losses in a row at UT, and you can expect any of these to be used against him)
