If I had any more time on my hands, I could try putting it in a MS Paint flowchart or something, but that'll have to wait.
1) Take off your MSU/OM blinders and look at the recruit as a high-school kid about to make his first "big-boy" decision in his life.
1a) Imagine that the football recruit is your own son, and act toward the recruit like you'd want other strangers to act toward your own son.
2) Is the recruit committed / interested in MSU? ===> Yes - Great! We'll glad to have you! Can't wait to see you in maroon and white!
===> No - Too bad! You're missing out on something special. Say hello after we beat you on the field.
3) Did the recruit previously commit to MSU, only to change his mind and commit to someone else?
===> Yes - recruit who? I don't know that name. Not wasting my time worrying about them.
Guys, we are only given so many minutes on this Earth, and I'll be damned if I'm going to waste a lot of time worrying about where some 17/18 year old kid goes. Remember the article I posted a week or two ago about the basketball coaches who all lost their unborn children? Remember how for about half an hour, everybody was like, "Thanks, this puts things in perspective! We waste too much time on bitching about sports!" Well that lasted about as long as the "bipartisan spirit" in DC after 9/11.
I refuse to get caught up in the recruiting drama. If a kid accepts an offer to come to State, I'm thankful for him and look forward to seeing him play. But if he chooses to go elsewhere, it's his decision to make and he'll either have made a good one or a bad one, but it's his decision to deal with. Those of you who are parents, are you behaving towards these recruits the way you would want others behaving toward your own kids?
*** Disclaimer: Once they sign with Ole Miss, the die have been cast and for 4 years (or until they transfer or flunk out), they ARE my archrival. I will cheer against them, and laugh to myself when they get in trouble for stealing pillows and alarm clocks. I hope they fail miserably on the football field. But they are still someone's children, and until it is proven that they do something illegal/unethical, prob best to not ridicule them openly on a message board / facebook for it.
