<font size="2">Andy Kennedy is not talking to members of the media about his arrest in Cincinnati early this morning, but his brother Steve Kennedy agreed to tell me the story Andy has told him. The following is the story he told me:

"The team had its normal team meeting at about 11 p.m. and then the coaches went out for a late-night dinner with some friends that Andy had when he was in Cincinnati. After they were done, they were leaving dinner and hailed a taxi. The taxi driver pulled up and the coaches (Kennedy, Bill Armstrong, Michael White, Owen Miller and Torrey Ward) piled into the car. Kennedy was in the front. The cab driver decides that he won't take all five guys, he'll only take four, and he started calling coach Ward (who is black) the 'N' word, so Kennedy says they'll get another cab. The cab hadn't moved, but the driver demanded that six dollars be <nobr><font color="#006600">paid</font></nobr>. At this point, Kennedy got out of the cab and went to another cab directly behind them and asked the second driver if he would take five people. That cab driver said yes. But when the coaches tried to get out of the first cab, the cab driver locked the back doors and drove about 100 feet with the four assistants in the back. Kennedy was standing on the curb. Apparently, some words were said in the cab and the cops were called. When the police showed up, the cab driver said Kennedy punched him and called him racial slurs. So the cops, who Andy said were nice, but had to do their <nobr><font color="#006600">jobs</font></nobr>, put him in handcuffs and put him into the squad car. At that point, Armstrong started saying stuff like this is bull s--- and he ended up getting arrested as well. But Andy never touched the cab driver or called him any names. They spent six hours in jail for this. It's amazing that someone can just make an accusation and someone gets thrown into jail."</font>

Your coach is a lush and a racist. The sooner you accept that and move on, the sooner the healing can begin.

This was obviously cooked up by a nafoomer. Its logical that a cab driver, upon deciding there are too many people are in his cab, would decide to find a black man and begin calling him the n word. That usually works. So then, AK doesn't lose his cool at that by any means, he stands on a curb for a moment then decides that he should punch the driver in the face. Nevermind the fact he just called a colleague and friend something terrible, that six bucks is "fightn' words."

I am making 100,000s $$$ a year & I've just left a bar and had a few. I really don't care to get into an altercation with a cabbie.

When I was in the military the cabbies would haul as many as we could fit, they would just charge us an extra $10 a head over 4 people. This cabbie decides that he can not haul 5 and kicks one out. Why? Is he going to get extra money if half of the group takes a second cab? nope. It was also stated that cabbie 1 was arguing with cabbie 2 which leads me to believe they were not from the same cab company. This means that cabbie 1 had nothing to gain by the party using 2 cabs. I call BS on the too many passanger theory.

....that is the most illogical pile of horse manure that I have ever read. So what you are telling me is that all five guys pile in and sit down. Then, the cab driver all of the sudden loses it and starts dropping N bombs? That makes a lot of sense. Throw in the fact that nobody disputes that Kennedy was coming out of "The Lodge," which is not a fine dining establishment, and the mugshot, and we all realize Kennedy was drunk. What a ridiculous story.

Jiddou said Kennedy then began yelling, cussing him and calling him "bin Laden, Saddam Hussein," and hit him in the face. Police said the left side of Jiddou's face was swollen...

There is no way. Why would a cab driver in Cin. be racist? That has got to be total bs. There is no way there are racist cab drivers in Cin. It's gotta be the coach from MS. that is the racist.

He might be, but it sounds more like it was your drunk, short tempered coach that is intolerant of Arabic people that was the problem.

...is the timeline. Team meeting at 11 pm? Going out afterward "for a late dinner"?

Reminds me of the crap I tried to get past my parents when I was a teenager. "But really, there was a lock-in at the church and we were there all night".

I admitted that I don't like cab drivers who force their culture down your throat when you ride in their cab. I never said I was racist. I am far from it. I just believe in the melting pot of America and not the buffet of America where you have pockets of different countries within the borders of the United States.

it should be either still swollen now or turning a shade of black or blue. I've been hit in my face before and it was worse the next day than it was 2 hours after the hit.

From the espn.com article:

Police said the left side of Jiddou's face was swollen; at his northern Kentucky home more than <font size="5">12 hours later, he had no apparent injuries</font> and said he wasn't hurt physically but was upset to be compared to the terrorist leader.</p>

If you believe that story is 100% accurate you are a damn fool. What cab driver in his right mind is going to call a guy a racial slur when there are 5 of them and 1 of him. I call ******** to the max. Just another way they are trying to twist it to cover their ***. A great representitive of the state there AK. You ought to keep your *** in the hotel watching and being with your team and wouldn't any of this **** happened.

I don't know what happened, but that story doesn't make a lot of sense. I am sure the truth probably lies in the middle.
