Heard them jam down Mr. Soul. Brings back good memories from Red Rocks this summer.

Wish I was in Athens this weekend.

Mikey was Panic and his lingering lead sure is missed... I just am not able to get into them without him. Jimmy is just not the same. It's like "The Dead" without Jerry, not very Grateful...

I think they have a little edge to them now with Jimmy. I am more of a Warren Haynes fan so I guess I listen to them a littledifferent.

I've seenthem more times than I care tocountand only a handful since Mikey passed. It obviously isn't the same (musically or the crowd/vibe) and Idon't go out of my way to see showslike I used to,but they're still the "world'sgreatestcover band".That 2nd set was heat.

I miss the Mikey years, with '97 being some of the best live shows ever because the band was really coming together as a whole. I've always liked George in his Beanland years to the Kudzo years, but he just didn't seem to have what it takes to replace Mikey. That's not his fault, different styles, and some really, really big shoes to fill and expectations from the band and the fanbase, tough situation. Plus, Joe Joe really didn't want him around anymore. I really like Jimmy, his style and like Bonedaddy said he brings an edge to the mix that George just couldn't. All things set aside though, WSP, Phish, Warren Haynes, and a few more really wake these old bones up when the first notes are hit.

is awesome. He's a little more of a rock guitarist than the other guys before him. McConnell was bad.

I never saw WSP with Mickey, so I can't really speak. But they are going stronger than ever with Jimmy, and he really did save our band.

18 of us going together from Starkville. I can't wait. Check out the lineup, it's pretty damn good. And of course, WSP is headlining.

 • Widespread Panic
 • Foo Fighters
 • Black Keys
 • Paul Simon
 • My Morning Jacket
 • Umphreys McGee
 • Pretty Lights
 • Primus
 • Ween (Sweet!)
 • Warren Haynes
 • Keller Williams
 • Amos Lee
I highlighted the ones I've seen that I know are fantastic live. I haven't seen Foo Fighters, but I heard they're good. Umphreys and My Morning Jacket are suppose to be great, but I've always missed them at festivals.

Got a ticket stub from Millsaps in 93. Paid $8.00 dollars for the show and stood on second base to watch it. Man were those the days.

In fact it isn't even in the same universe as it was with houser. I don't listen to Panic nearly as much as I used to. Just hard to come close to doing what they did with Houser.

With that being said they put on a hell of a show last night

Don't get me wrong Jimmy is a great guitarist, but he is just a hired gun... He definitely has more of a rock sound than Mikey did, some of his jams sound similar to his jams when he played with the Allman Brothers band. Now I liked Gmac because he is a Vicksburg boy and loved his band Beanland, but he was too bluesy for WSP...

Here are a few of my favorite Mikey shows that I was lucky enough to be at, take a listen and enjoy that lingering lead.....

And second, I agree that Jimmy is a damn good guitarist. Just not the greatest sound for Panic, but I am not sure anyone would be. I do think it is good, but it is just too damn different. He obviously sounded great on FOTM last night.

yourself a favor and check out the Foo Fighters, if you go. Grohl is a beast on the drums. I saw him at ACL in 2009 with Them Crooked Vultures and thought he was going to break his drum set, he was smashing them so hard and loud. It was awesome.

I've always heard good things about Foo Fighters live, but never seen them. Queens of the Stone Age were good with Grohl on drums.
