Seems like a bit of a reach. The guy has won a national title there. And to insinuate that cals really successful years were due to players recruited by the prior staffs is absurd.

The quickest way to get the media to turn on you is to skip out on some press conferences.

Was just about to post the same thing. Those questions were all pretty ridiculous. The answer to them all is basically that when you sign the classes Cal signs, sometimes they may not pan out as expected. But sometimes they win a national championship. Cal does as good of a job as anyone could of getting these guys who have no desire to be in college to play within a college system.

Most of the questions were ridiculous. But Forde's premise is spot on. One bad year is an anomaly, but back-to-back NITs at Kentucky is the unforgivable sin. You don't start the year #1 and fall out of the polls.

Sometimes things don't pan out? He signs 5 5-star players a year. Most schools book a tourney bid with 1 5-star player. While the critique of the NC and role players belonging to former coaches is off-base, it points out the fact that Calipari hasn't developed talent at UK. I don't think Calipari gets the most out of them. I think that they wing it on talent alone.

Forde's pointing out the flaws in the logic regarding one-and-done players. The best point in the article is that Harrison's stats aren't any better than the PG that Cal ran out of town off last years' team, but since Harrison was a 5 star; it's more forgivable.

UK will make the tournament this year. I don't think there's any doubt about that.

First, I'm not sure where you're getting this idea that they will be in back to back NIT's. Second, it doesn't help your argument when you exaggerate. Cal has never signed 5 5-star players in one class, much less five every year. He's signed a bunch, but not five in any one class. Third, this team hasn't responded as well as some of his others to what he teaches, but there is a method to what they do.

They lose out, which is what they are in danger of doing, they don't make the tourney

Yeah, I'm a 17n exaggerator. That's 6 by my count.

Their method has two straight years of failing. That's not a coincidence. Forde has just written an article about it. You should read it sometime.

They weren't due to the prior staff, but his national championship had a veteran forward that played in the NBA and they wouldn't have won the national championship without him. As bad as college basketball has gotten, you still need more than freshmen to win. If Cal would start balancing his recruiting class by adding in a player or two that is highly skilled but not an early entry candidate it would help his teams.

Probably not too great a point seeing as how Harrow was also a 5* recruit.
