You're so good, when we make love it's understood
It's more than a touch or a word can say
Only in dreams could it be this way

Don’t insult Huey by adding him to this list

Saw them in Rupp maybe around '79 or '80. Good, solid show. Above average arena rock band for late 70s and early 80s. Not one of the best of all time, though.

Love Foreigner, already have our tickets to see them at Riverbend on August 1st.

Do you realize you'll be seeing what amounts to a tribute band? Assuming no Mick Jones, there will be no original/classic era members in the band at all.

Agree 100%, and you can add about 30 others to that list. But your first mistake is listening to "classic rock stations" in the first place. Any station where I know the song within 1/2 a second, even if I switch channels and pick it up mid tune, is a non starter to me.

A fair question for sure... but really, the wrong question.

"Will I enjoy listening to Foreigner's songs?" is the right question.

I saw them few years ago at The Jack Casino in Cincy and they were FANTASTIC (and Mick was still in the casino for the first 3 songs, including an awesome Double Vision opener).

For me, it comes down to "Would I rather spend money on a VERY high quality tribute band playing songs I LOVE (see Skynyrd, Foreigner, Jason Bonham's LZ Experience, Brit Floyd, heck even The Dead, etc) or pay hundreds (or even a grand) to see The Stones, etc from a half mile away... or worse, see a newer act that might have a few decent songs?".

At the end of the day, a great song is a great song... even if its not done by the original artist.

YMMV.

There is a reason "classic rock" is still the #1 genre...it is the best music we listen to.

to me, it is not the artists of classic rock that suck but it is the song selection that radio stations employ.
if you do like classic rock, you probably prefer to hear deeper cuts than the radio-friendly choices or just their highest ranking hit song.
i used to love many of the bands listed but have been burned out on the same three songs you get to hear...

What? You only listen to brand new music all the time?

I was exaggerating, but only a little bit, XM Radio is 1000 times better than the commercial stations, that is how I fill up my Spotify playlists, by listening to a lot of different sounds. And it is not always new stuff. For one example, I have a list called Classic Soul that is filled with older artists from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, some of whom I knew (Marvin Gaye, Temptations) but a bunch I never heard of like "Sitting in the Park" by Billy Stewart. Or stuff from the Delfonics. Not new at all . . . but it is new to me.

I once attended a Foreigner / Giuffria (call to the heart was their big song) concert. Worst concert ever. Only reason i went was to get a concert T because i collected them, and the most important, 4 girls wanted me and my best friend to go with them. 84-85 ish. Foreigner is ok, but not concert ok.

I think it was Foreigner's Agent Provocateur tour. Lots of ladies, very few dudes. Lots of hairspray, couldn't tell who wore more, the men or women. 80's man, I want my 80's back. Bands toured little places like where i caught my concerts, Roberts Stadium in Evansville.

I agree 100%. I would much rather hear a more obscure song from Led Zeppelin than Stairway to Heaven for the 115,000th time. Same with pretty much all the classic rock bands.

Tru dat - love the Eagles, but how about "The Last Resort" for once, instead of Hotel California for the 115,000th time?
