Damn, I hate to hear that. Very tough for a young family like that. May he R.I.P.

Terrible news. We take for granted that our police and fire men put their lives on the line for us every day.

I totally didn't realize this when I heard this on the WFAA news last night. Wow, what a terrible thing already that really hits close to home now. I met and talked with Scott back in school. Terrible news.

I sent Scott Stricklin an email today with an idea that popped in my head.

Run a limited edition printing of the mock baseball jersey t-shirts. Only with his name and number on the back. Sell it for $25 or $30.

All the proceeds go to the family. Simple.

I have no idea if it'll see the light of day, but it's a great and easy way to help the family, and fans get a great piece of memorabilia to memorialize a former Diamond Dawg and a legitimate, everyman hero.

EDIT: Also, I'd throw his name and number on the outfield fence.

They had a short bio of him on Fox 4 in Dallas/Ft. Worth. Was talking about not only was a huge baseball fan, but was drafted twice (out of high school by the Twins) and after college. Showed him in his Miss. State uniform and everything.

If someone has video of Tanksley's first big relief appearance

as a Freshman. It was epic and I would love to see it again. It was against, I believe, LSU and he struck out the side to save the game.

We were all at that game wondering who we had that could possibly fill the void when the great Jay Powell was drafted. After Tanksley took the mound with nerves of steel and pulled that off, my brother and I looked at each other and said..."we're gonna be just fine."

I hope this weekend they have at least a moment of silence for Scott Tanksley and Dan Van Cleve. Two great Bulldogs.
