From his site:Oh My! Simmons has East Forsyth favorited by 74pts. I don't think Simmons system factors in a running clock after 40pts. I'll take Parkland barely to cover.
This has everything to do with the system in Forsyth county. Parkland Carver and North Forsyth have been left to rot on the vine. They just need to shut those schools down and close them if they are going to continue to allow choice. Just close those schools down. Because I have been there and I know what is going on and I know the coaches at these places and it’s not the coaching. It’s losing your kids to other schools period. But oh well it’s not going to change. Carver will continue to fall apart so will Parkland and North. Just shut the schools down if you are going to let this continue. I mean does parkland carver or north have JV teams ????? Time to get off of my soap box.35-0 East 2:00 left in 1st qtr.
God have mercy on that Parkland program.
You're preaching to the choir here. I've been explaining to people how Forsyth County destroyed Parkland, Carver, and North. It can be fixed if you get rid of open enrollment. That kills schools of a certain variety at different times in their developmentParkland for about 4-5 years was ok this is so sad what has happened. I don’t think it can ever be “fixed “
This has hurt RJR as well, they've done absolutely nothing in football the past 12yrs since Jake Gainey and that lil' stocky QB with the rocket arm. You're preaching to the choir here. I think this is a problem alot of schools face in this country . Especially California. This has hurt RJR as well, they've done absolutely nothing in football the past 12yrs since Jake Gainey and that lil' stocky QB with the rocket arm.
Open enrollment has hurt Walkertown to some extent even though they are playing great this year but 2 former superstars(D-1 commits) from Walkertown are on East Forsyth right now.
Those superstars had no offers before coming to East Forsyth. East Forsyth has a crazy off-season program and Willert gets kids to the next level. One kid is 5'8. I heard from one of their coaches they put 20lbs on him and kept his speed up there being elite. They stay at the other school there is no guarantee they get those big offers. Not all programs are built the same even though some of you think and wish they wereThis has hurt RJR as well, they've done absolutely nothing in football the past 12yrs since Jake Gainey and that lil' stocky QB with the rocket arm.

Here's a few thoughts on the Eagles. The Athlete has alot to do with being offered ! But the coaching staff is different at East Forsthy. Them boys up front got a combined 20 sacks. They have talented players at every position they young too up front. That DT #91 played a hell of a game against Reagan against two POWER 5 offensive lineman 7tkls 1sack,1FF,2FR..... Only a Jr. #8 for them can play man held Noah Rogers to 0 catches ....
Good Stuff, A lot of people have no idea how much HS football has changed and to get that many players to lift in the off season year round is a lot harder than it seems. Speed training too... is why they are consistently one of the fastest teams around. Here's a few thoughts on the Eagles.
I've been watching EF for 20+ years. I came over and started getting serious about this program when Woodruff left NW Guilford for Michigan. The new HC was young and we started losing again and our top young assistant coach became the East Forsyth Eagles DC.
When that happened I started talking to some assistant coaches on staff at NWG and then some fans on the Booster club at EF. I noticed real quick that the Eagles culture is different from 95% of the schools in our area. Most teams lift during school in the off-season for a PE.
The Eagles make all their players lift as a team at 4:30 Monday - Friday days in the off-season. I had a friend who went by EF one day cause he knows a teacher and he sent Me a video that blew my mind. There was 87 kids there from 4pm to 7pm without a freshman class on campus because this was winter/Spring time. I asked him. yeah, but how consistent are those kids. He told me they had been there every day as a team for 11 weeks In a row. They lift as a team then they have speed training as a team everyday. They also have a Yoga instructor come in 1 day a week for advanced stretching.
Then they have Football skill development sessions as a team. I was also told now East Forsyth has their on film crew on staff like a college that films with 4 or 5 angles not just for games but for every workout and practice!!!. Here's where it gets crazy....
When they come off the field they have coaches who have film broken down of that practice or workout session that day. They have film meeting rooms for each position group with 72" flat screen TVs they then watch practice and correct all mistakes that day.. Thats some college level stuff man.
I was told this summer they were having Speed training in the morning. Practice right afterwards for 2 hrs. Then weight room for an hr. Then they were in film watching it all. Again, college level practices. I then found out Willert was a College Football coach at an HBCU before becoming the Eagles HC. since then he has built a well oiled machine over there in Kernersville. He literally has about 6 or 7 coaches that should be Head Coaches on his staff. Each year I think one or 1 could be gone anf they all stay because they love coaching with him and winning
We currently have over 70 kids on college rosters, along with 4 projected NFL draft pics for 2023, Today! We have the receipts to prove it. We're built that way. Those superstars had no offers before coming to East Forsyth. East Forsyth has a crazy off-season program and Willert gets kids to the next level. One kid is 5'8. How is Forsyth County open enrollment set up? Can a child just go to any school w/o penalty or does he have to sit a year like in Charlotte if not his home school? Charlotte has Zones, and Home schools. Please explain if possible. Carver was a beast for a long time. Hate to see them like this. Here's a few thoughts on the Eagles.

As long as the school has space you can go to any school without issue. East Forsyth was able to take advantage of the perceived (some deserved some not) dysfunction at other schools and capitalized off of it.How is Forsyth County open enrollment set up? Thats similar to Charlotte, but you have to sit a year. Say a student is at Carver and wants to attend East Forsyth how can he get there? If EF has openings can he get transfer w/o sitting out living at same home? In Charlotte you can attend the school but cant play sports for 365. Now if the new school becomes his home school they can go regardless of space. This is what I'm asking. Is it true free agency based on space or does residency and sit out apply. As long as the school has space you can go to any school without issue. We have zones as well, but that’s just fore default schools.
They can all they need is a ride to the new school. And yes they can transfer without sitting a year. You just have to do it within the transfer period which in in Feb. IE. My neighborhood options are WC IB, NM IB or MC home school. If my son leaves WC IB he can only go to MC and be sports eligible. If Butler has space(which it doesn;t) he would have to sit a year 365 but could attend as a student. Hope this makes sense. Thinking Carver, NF, and Parkland should still have a home school residency base of students that just can;t easily leave.
No need to sit a year. A student can play for Carver their freshman year continue to stay in Carvers district and transfer to East next year and play without issue if they wanted to. East forsyth is always going to be good ,Just for the simple fact that they're willing to play other good teams to test themselves not like that other team. It's definitely run like a college there,From the classes the players take & how there prepared mentally and practice for every game . I was very impressed with the organization at East forsthy. We currently have over 70 kids on college rosters, along with 4 projected NFL draft pics for 2023, Today! We have the receipts to prove it. That's basically true free agency in HS. The have nots will likely never get a chance to build if you can change schools w/o penalty. If we had that system in CMS oh my. SMH. CMS only has a few open Highschools and most desirable football schools are non magnets in Mallard Creek, Chambers, Butler, and Hough so they have to be your homeschool to attend as most are designated as full schools. They can all they need is a ride to the new school. Well in Forsyth county it kind of is Free agency. But you can not blame the coaches who benefit from it. I do not know one coach who would turn away talent. When I was at Parkland my first year there was a rumor that there were 13-14 players starting on teams in Winston Salem that should be attending Parkland. One is the the NFL right now (we went to VTech). Those were just starters. We went 0-11 for the first two years then 3-8 the next before any head way was made there. But what it took to get Parkland to being respectable pretty much came down to these eventsThat's basically true free agency in HS. Yeah. Transfers are the name of the game. From youth ball all the way to the Pros. Its a way of life. Just got to coach well, sell your programs and get some lucky breaks.Well in Forsyth county it kind of is Free agency. But you can not blame the coaches who benefit from it. 1. 2014 Quantay Kobe Young(West Forsyth) and Tyeous Sharpe(Carver) coming back to Parkland(their Home School. Both were instant starters as soon as they showed up at Parkland
2. The Next year 2015 Kyndel Dean coming to us from Carver via choice transfer. This event shaped Parkland for the next couple of years.
2 A .2015 Lee Kpogba and that class staying together and not transfer out of Parkland's district to go to other schools
3. Parkland started to keep most of their kids and get players from other schools like Carver , North Forsyth, and RJR.
4. Actually getting quality coaches to stay and work with kids that were there.
So even at Parkland transfers were a part of it
It took 4 years just and a lot of work just to go 7-5 in year 4 that we were there and took 6 years to get them to go 11-2 . The coach Marshall had an 8 win season then poof it was gone . Kids transferring back out of district (for reasons no one or everyone knows) and back to 1 win or possible zero win seasons. And it is so sad to see. Again I wish the coach and Parkland much future success. But again you may never see Carver , Parkland , RJR, North Forsyth ever have "good/Great" Success ever again.
Yes and Yes , broke my heartYeah. Transfers are the name of the game. From youth ball all the way to the Pros. Its a way of life. Just got to coach well, sell your programs and get some lucky breaks.
Young was at Towson right? Just sad....
@sammyk You ever think of coming back to Forsyth County? Man you can even come from out of the county to Forsyth. It will cost about $1500 I believe, we looked into it because of issues we had early on when we arrived here from Indiana, but I leave decisions like those up to my kids and he didn't want to move. Things have gotten better but he has been kind of wasted and now we're looking for a college close by with his degree to take a chance on him...smhHow is Forsyth County open enrollment set up? I don't know if that will ever happen that is me coming back to Winston . I do miss it a lot and I loved my time there and most of my best friends still live in the Triad but I am not sure if I would ever come back.@sammyk You ever think of coming back to Forsyth County? Someone on here said you and Willert are pals. would you ever consider working as a coach with Willert?
The thing about the choice transfer and then I will stop is this. When I was at Parkland we did turn it around a little bit but we were never ever going to be able to give the kids what East, Reagan, West , or even Tabor could give them as far a equipment and facilities ect. Plus the support at those places were so much more than we had at Parkland. Now did the parents at Parkland help out yes did they care yes but it was nothing like what goes on at the schools I mentioned. Lastly when you have Choice transfer its not just athletes a school loses , its PTA, Booster club parents, its $$$$$, its Band/cheer parents, a fractured community all of that. So the coaches at places like Carver, North, Parkland have a bigger gap to overcomeThe old saying If you build it they will come! If your program sucks and you never work you'll never win. You hire a good coach just like Parkland did they start building Winning then kids are willing to stay and be a part of it. Before Willert took over East Forsyth that place was the door mat to Forsyth County. He was committed to build a championship program. If I'm not mistaken he is the longest tenured coach in the County! His Coordinators could all be Head Coaches but they stay with him. They get a few transfers each year but a majority of their talent is there as freshman or sophomores.
One thing I will say is Willert and team get their kids to the next level. Yeah we all know the big time D1 kids are getting recruited. where I think he beats everyone else is getting the D2 and D3 kids into college. That's not easy at all. You have to constantly stay on top of grades and build relationships with college coaches. Each year Willert had 6-15 kids go D2 - D3 on top of the 4-6 D1 players.
Correct coach. Most transfers are non-football related. 1# is academics and school safety/perception. Once academics/perceived safety issues arise it effects sports secondarily. Then those schools lose top scholars, then top athletes, and subsequently they get more troubled students as the balance is now off.The thing about the choice transfer and then I will stop is this. 2015 East Forsyth loses to Mallard Creek Western Regional Playoffs. Total craziness in the stands at East Forsyth. Cops had to save a Mallard Creek fan. Yes, it happens at EF also. Also, What elite team in NC ducks' competition? Answer- 0 You guys have a great organized open enrollment program, with a great coaching staff. Stop with all the other nonsense.I agree with 75% of what your saying is correct . The main thing for me as a parent is academics . Coaching also ays a big factor into it too. But to be honest safety is #1 for alot of parents . Example East Forsthy played Mt.Tabor at Tabor, A fight breaks out ,Peppered spray is released in the air everywhere to try to calm the situation. Do you really want your kid attending a school like that .. People will move there kid to safer places & take that money with them , East Forsthy is run like a college program . The parents that have there own business will fund them whatever they need or lack . Because its SAFE & the coaching staff there is probably the best in the state . They have a room for every position . The coach at East is so into his student-Athletes there . Another thing there willing to play anybody, anywhere . They know what they putting out in that field every friday night , Its always somebody different you notice every friday besides the main guys . Safety is key to keeping things in place .And when people know that there kid is safe , there going to buy in ......
Who plays better comp then East in this AREA.... I'LL wait , crazy thing about this Im not even from here & I see the favoritism its clear as day .
