How's FH looking this year?
I know going to play at FH is a daunting task and they have been a powerhouse, but when I was looking at their schedule, they've played some very bad teams.
If Sherando can pull off this win, I think it sets them up well for a playoff run.

Any thoughts?

Even though Fort Hill hasn't really played anyone... My opinion, on paper, is that this is one of the better FH teams... They return just about everyone from the team that beat Sherando last year on Sherando's home field... Not only that but they're playing at Greenway which is an obstacle in and of itself.. If you've never been to Fort Hill's stadium its quite the experience... Below is a link to an article written by an opposing team's newspaper. The writer sums up playing in Cumberland pretty well. Here's to a safe game and safe travels by Sherando...

Here's a link to 2 of their players mid season highlights.. Even though #2 is the star senior, I like #4's attitude... He plays with a chip on his shoulder, they all pretty much do, but #4's just a junior...

#2, 4, 20, on and on. They look big and athletic upfront and all the kids look like they play every second of the whistle. Pretty impressive. Thanks for the hudl highlights!

Fort Hill returns nearly everybody from last year's team that defeated Sherando and they are bigger, faster, and stronger. Until last week, however, they have been untested. They rose to the challenge last week making some nice second half defensive adjustments to defeat South Hagerstown. It was the first time all year the starters were needed for 4 quarters, usually the games are over by halftime or even by the end of the 1st quarter. But again, they haven't been tested other than South Hagerstown. Sherando should without a doubt be there toughest test on the year. Fort Hill's Greenway Avenue Stadium should be rocking Friday night, and I hope the Sherando fans enjoy the trip and experience. That article that BigSavage links above is an apt description of what you're looking at.

Here are some pics from Fort Hill's website of the 1994 Homecoming Game between Fort Hill and Allegany. Granted, this was the biggest crowd ever to witness a game at Greenway Avenue Stadium as both teams came into the game undefeated at 9-0. Things have dropped off some in attendance but this gives you an indication of how serious High School Football is treated in Cumberland at Fort Hill. When you look at these pics pay particular notice to the fact that the stands are full but so also are the banks at both ends of the field, Greenway Avenue Stadium sits in a bowl.

I used to have to count the attendance at games when I was younger. I found the best way to do this was to count the number of legs and divide by 2.

No way Sherando pulls this off IMO. Fort Hill is just too much. Sherando needs to stop scheduling this many good teams. If they replace Martinsburg and Fort Hill with I don't know Fauqeuir and Harrisonburg, they would make the playoffs.
Add the loudoun schools in place of some of those. But with the new mega district things should get easier for sherando as far as scheduling

That's an interesting perspective but I'm pretty sure no one at Sherando wants to just "make the playoffs." I think they schedule big because they want to achieve big. If they don't make the playoffs it will be the first time in a long time that has happened. I really doubt anyone in that program expects to miss them this year still.

Well next year I think they drop Fort Hill due to the new district setup. Last I heard they still play Martinsburg, which I hope they continue with since it's becoming a good series.
