I wouldn't put much stock into what tv station out of memphis had to say the same day the resignation was announced.
That's not to say he won't be the guy chosen... but still.

it would be called WCBI. They are pathetic. If it ain't about Memphis basketball, then I don't trust them. They reported this the night Croom resigned... this means, before we even hired Neinas' service to find his replacement... they are so full of sh*t...

if a TV station "breaks" a story like a coaching search, there is a 95% chance it is wrong. A good chunk of journalists are somewhat lazy and TV sportscasters take the cake. When it is finally a "done deal," it's probably going to come from Veazy, Locke or one of us.

...but anything local news stations throw out there is worth less than the Gene's Page candidate list that is surely forthcoming. They'll run with anything.

That's because most, if not all, TV sports people don't have the luxury of sitting around a given athletic department all day to be right there when that stuff comes out...

Didn't Vince's brother, Bill Dooley, play at State? and then had a successful coaching career at Wake Forest? Think I have that correct.

He won three Atlantic Coast Conference titles, all at North Carolina, and coached his teams to nine bowl games total. He is tied for second in most total wins at North Carolina and first in most seasons at the school. He also achieved the school's first 11-1 season in 1972, which has only been accomplished twice at the school since. After his tenure at UNC, Dooley served as the head coach at Virginia Tech, where he is currently second in both total wins and winning percentage.

Finally, he served as the head coach at Wake Forest University where, as of November 2006, he is third in the school's history for all-time wins and tied for third in longest tenure.
Bill Dooley was born in 1934, in Mobile, Alabama.
