Ron Zook went to Illinois and suddenly started recruiting top classes. Had no idea. Learn something new everyday. Ron Zook & his top Illinois recruiting classes are now an asterisk in the annuals of college football. Perhaps Freeze will fare better.
What this shitbag doesn't say about Illinois is that, while they did jump, it was into the top 25, not the top 5. Their highest ranked class under Zook was #20, and that ranking prompted his own administration to start poking around.
Now, you tell me, which is the more probable event - a well known and historically successful coach, Ron Zook, going to a big ten program and recruiting a decent class, or an unknown coach coming into a program that was ranked 40 the year before, and bringing in the #7 class in the nation. Show me where that has happened before -
a jump of 30 spots, into the top 10. I don't think you're going to find a historical precedent, unless you go back to the 70's and 80's and the rampant cheating that was going on at places like SMU. Freeze needs to understand that, probability wise, he's just performed a miracle, and most people don't believe in miracles when it comes to football recruiting.
