Fox Valley week 5

Game of the week,

Cary @ Huntley

Huge battle of two of the best of da Fox. Cary Defense has shown they can stop the pass, but they have not seen a QB as good as Mooney. Huntley struggled against PR with the triple threat, while we don’t have that Samson guy, I feel we have a better backfield and are spreading the ball better. Brings the question:

Beth Long,

what cha gonna do when Cary wins by 14+ and forces you to add us to list?

McHenry @ Jacobs

Huge game for two teams coming off tough losses. With Central looking maybe better than thought, Jacobs needs this win otherwise next weeks game will have playoff implications. McHenry needs a bounce back HUGE. Loss here and their playoff picture will depend on the beating either PR or Huntley. Odds are not good on that front. After giving up 38 to Central, I’d be surprised if Jacobs doesn’t hit 40+, the question, does McHenry hit 40+ as well? I like Jacobs here by 10.

South @ Dundee

Dundee coming off their first and possibly their last win of the season. This is a winnable game against South, next 4..Cary, McHenry, Central, PR…not so much. South has a young huge line, the will be too much for the Highlanders.

I like South by 7+

Bartlett @ Prairie Ridge

Homecoming at preppy ridge, The Hawks def has been ok…but they have not seen an offense like this since last year. Think PR put up close to 70 then, would expect the same. Running clock in second quarter two weeks in a row?

Central @ Hampshire

Central is two games away from a state birth. This is one of the 2 that they must win. Look for Bisram to have a good day and the Tigers put up 50+. Wonder if the Central JV will play this week,.

I truly think the Cary-Grove/Huntley game is going to be better than most think. Huntley is athletic and the spread with Mooney as Qb is going to give CG defense fits. Mooney is the perfect fit for that style of offense. I have seen a few predictions with CG winning by more than 3 TD's but personally I do not think it will happen. Huntley has had the luxury (not literally) of facing the Option earlier this year against PR so that should aid in their preparation. Should be a great game with some great athletes flying all over the field. The team with more depth may have a huge advantage if the temperature stays as hot as they say. It will not allow CG to run their huge linemen both ways.

I agree to a point, I just think Cary will surprise with how well the D will play against this offense.

From what I'm hearing, CG isn't scoring on the their typical option and more from straight hand offs through a line that's dominating. Should be a good game.

In saw CG against PR and yes much less misdirection/counters and the OL is pretty strong....also Max Skol is the man so....

Trojan Fox, I have been waiting for some follow-up on the CG/Huntley game. Can you breakdown what Huntley did in the first half that gave CG so much trouble? Obviously they made some adjustments on defense at the Half to make it a ballgame.

Well, Beth Long will have to wait to post season to add us to her list...

What can I say, Huntley whooped our *** in the first half. Not sure if we were ready for the speed of Mooney running. But give credit where it's due, we almost came back without Skol or Dingle.

On a different note, when is Huntley going to leave the Fox and find a conference with atleast 1 team it's size? Think of it this way. If you put us and PR together, Huntley is still bigger. Could you imagine a team made up of Cary/PR? Our line would be a monster, backfield second to none.
Yet, Huntley would still be a few hundred bigger in size.

When we went to Huntley earlier in the season it was the first time I had ever seen Mooney play. I have to admit I was quite impressed. I won't be at all surprised if we see Hultley go far in the playoffs. I hope Huntley doesn't leave the FVC. We have too few competitive teams as it is.
