Dear Fran
Tarkenton - I admire your entrepreneurship, but your smug rant on 680 in Atlanta
this morning that Vandy, Kentucky, and the Mississippi schools "don't
belong in the SEC" is absurd and stupid. MState 24 UGA 12. MState 10 UF 6. Go
get a haircut and an extra brain cell if you can find one. Maybe Cecil
can sell you one.

On the other hand - I think Fran is right about the Cam story. He doubts Cam plays again this season, possibly the Iron Bowl but almost certainly out after that.

Who does he say should replace those teams? Is it because the teams mentioned don't have consistently winning seasons? If that is the reason he would be hard pressed to find replacements that do.
What got his unheralded views stirred up anyway?

He was on for his phone interview and they were discussing elite SEC programs, coaching, etc. Totally giving allowances for UGA to have a down year, and talking about the proliferation of cupcake opponents in teams with 9 and 10 wins. Talking about Bama versus GaState last night... got to considering "quality wins" for UGA and then hit on Vandy. Next thing you know, "Come on, we all know Vandy doesn't belong in the SEC. Vandy, Kentucky, and the Mississippi schools don't belong in the SEC..." --- and not a whimper of protest or even calling him on the point by the hosts.

Then bellyaching about big money programs and who really brings in the money.

Blech.

Get out being named "Fran" and you're a guy. That may be the problem right there. We all know they need us in the SEC. Who do they want? Who would they get? A "better, bigger school"? They like having us under their thumbs and expecting a W each time they play us. If they had TX or OK, it'd make their records look even worse having to play strong programs. I hate that is our lot right now, but I do feel we're on the verge of changing that, especially apparent with the wins this season. 3-0 against the east. 17'ers!

The thing that is never considered is that part of our lack of annual success is because we are in the SEC. Put Georgia Tech in the SEC and you will not see them annually win 7-9 games either. Put MSU in the ACC and you would have seen a hell of a lot more than 13 bowl games over the last century.

should get the elite honor of being in the SEC I guess. Even Ky can't stay in for basketball. I guess he would have the SEC replace the 4 schools mentioned with Texas, Ohio State, Oklahoma and USC.

I'm surprised he had time to break away from sending spam e-mails and doing infomercials for useless "get rich quick" schemes to do the interview in the first place.</p>
