I wonder if the rumors of the big money adidas deal contemplated this happening? It was a lot of money, more than Tennessee. Maybe some of the money was for a new coach? The tweet indicated that adidas wanted a new coach before the losses.

I agree that this was the right decision, but I’m quite sad that it came to this. There are so many things CJF did the right way, it sucks that he couldn’t break through this personal performance ceiling he’s been stuck under.

I’m disappointed in Penn Staters who are treating this as a moment to celebrate. It’s an extremely lamentable moment. Feel relieved, sure — I’ll admit that I do at this point. Feel hopeful for what a change might (MIGHT!) bring for our program. But celebrating? That’s sh!tty. :(
Bro, hope is not celebration. You love Franklin then you most def didn’t want to see your boy walking off the field after a 13-10 loss to Rutgers

I have watched us get pushed backwards on both lines since 2005.

No more. Brett Bielema is my top target for next season. Not one more game of being dominated at the line of scrimmage.

No but the thought that Penn State is vested in Saban and they are just going to hookup and pick the next coach is wild and disconnected.
No crazier than Urban coming to coach here. Maybe Saban would have no interest, but would it hurt to call?

Loyalty ended when teams started paying players. I wish it weren’t so, but sadly I think expecting loyalty from players anymore is a fool’s errand. Allar was loyal and look what it did for him. It potentially ruined his football career.
I don't believe Drew stayed because of loyalty. Drew stayed because he knew he wasn't ready for the NFL and he made millions in NIL. If not for NIL he would have left. You cant fool me.

You’re Correct about Urban and Saban falls into the same category. These ghosts of football past don’t care about helping PSU and PSU won’t be calling Bama and OSU legends for advise.

PSU should search for youth and innovation, its a different CFB world.

I know one thing that would not happen: Northwestern smashing us backwards on both sides of scrimmage. So hey, feel free to pour out the "no"s. If you can hire a coach who can do better at scrimmage let me know who that is.

Hard pass. Other thank knowing to win in the B1G you need huge, physical OL's and DL's, he's a meathead. Cignetti kicked BB's *** because UI upsized through the portal and plays with attitude.

Matt Rhule would be a sad, embarrassing hire. Talk about Saban or Meyer is so incredibly sad. Why not just advocate for a cardboard cutout of JoePa as the "new" coach?

True. Very true. But this season has already taken a swan dive into the crapper. Im glad they made a move. Something had to be done. The team, including Franklin, has mailed it in. Hopefully Smith plays whoever is expected to be in the 2 deep next year. In my opinion, he owes nothing to the 5th year big NIL guys.

I said this before, hopefully Kraft brings in somebody like Saban to help. He's one of the best to ever coach and has a pretty good coaching tree.
Saban won because Alabama was doing NIL before it was legal.

Broadcast team for the Raiders/Titans game just threw some serious shade at PSU for firing JF.

As a PSU and Titans fan I might just give up on football.

Super excited to see who becomes the next H.C...

Bill O'Brien was a nice surprise, Franklin after that wasn't too shabby.

Whoever it is, walks into one of the best situations at Penn State unlike last time's shake up.

Next HC unfortunately will have haters from day 1. HC Can’t Fail isn’t walking into Happy Valley.

Urban Meyer? He checks a lot of boxes. Yeah, there’s baggage, but he’s won Natties at two schools and would instantly reestablish credibility.

He could agree to take the job in season and hit the ground running on building a staff and recruiting before December.

Figure he’d coach 4-6 years and then turn things over to a Ryan Day type.

It’s not zero risk, but he’s way more likely to turn things around than fail.

He is scummy, no thanks. But my opinion on next HC, just like pretty much everyone else’s on here, doesn’t matter because doubt any of us are floating the check for a big time HC.

Urban would be ideal. The job is to win. Not be a nice guy. Sorry Dave Jones.
