The dude couldn't be more accurate. It's an absolute **** $how. However, as long as this is the business model that we must all compete under, I hope we play the **** $how game better than anyone.

Regardless of how it turned out in the long run, Cal had us on the cutting edge of the one-and-done era. Maybe Pope can do the same in the Portal era.

So I guess this is how it's going to be. Kentucky loads up better than anyone so far this year, and now the sport is finally broken. Lol, got it.

You can tell Pope has people running scared. And you might say "why does Francis Fraschilla care?".. because for anyone unaware, he's an out-and-out Kansas Homer.

This is honestly glorious to see the hand-wringing in real time.

Has it really changed or is everything just more out in the open? Do I love it all? No, but I’d honestly take openly paying guys versus the behind the scenes of putting families in mansions for a year and pretending like every guy picked their school due to love.
Bingo this is the right answer it was always done under the table now everyone can show their cards and nothing has to be hidden anymore.

Notice his hating *** didn’t say crap last year when Kansas was spending big money on a roster, but this year when Kentucky and byu do it’s a problem now

I think some of you take things like this waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too personally and are constantly looking to be slighted by the talking heads. The only bad part about what he said is that he regularly goes to Chili's...

Nawh. Fraschillia only comments on stuff like this when it’s teams like us doing it. He never says a word when Kansas does stuff like this

There’s a simple solution, if you don’t like it, don’t watch.

It’s like with the annoying Duke slurping on ESPN, I just don’t watch it. They start kissing Duke’s tail and I turn it off or put it on mute or just ignore it.

Watch something else if you hate what college basketball has become.

There are hundreds, make that thousands of games on YouTube from the good old days you can watch over and over again and reminisce about better times.

Crying about it ain’t going to fix it.

I kind of find it refreshing that it’s out in the open.

If you think players haven’t always been paid, you are naive.

I agree with many others that the money isn't the main problem... it's the unrestricted transfers.

These guys want to be paid like pros, then there should be contracts and caps on the # of transfers and/or reinstitute sitting out a year (or something similar) when players want to transfer more than once.

Maybe something like this:
1 transfer without penalty,
2nd transfer = sit 1 year as a transfer...Exception = head coach leaves/fired, then the sit rule is waived

Did I miss another post by him? Was he referencing UK at all or just the sport in general?

He’s not wrong. It needs to be fixed. Needs some sort of regulation. I mean, go Cats, obviously. But it is seriously messed up at the moment.

The amount of money being thrown around (if true) is unsustainable, IMO (I can see boosters from lesser/non-"basketball first" programs easily throwing in the towel if their investment doesn't generate the results they think it should fairly quickly).

That being said, I like that NIL and the portal has leveled the playing field that IMO had been rigged by the AAU/shoe company handlers of pouty high schoolers and the "pick-a-hat" diva mess that we had to deal with for far too long. Was being beholden to that system really so much better than what we're seeing today? To me, it was worse. Look at it like this: we miss on a 5* late in the recruiting process 10-20 years ago and it would pretty much ruin our chances in the upcoming season. In that era, the games those handlers liked to play could really hurt us with a coach like Pope who had never proven to be a great high school recruiter at this level and it could greatly lower his ceiling here despite him being a really good coach. Miss on portal players 1, 2, 3, or even 4 times in a row today and you can still end up with a really good player in that spot, if the price is right. Sucks for mid-major programs or those not willing to spend as much, but great for us. And Florida just won a national championship with pretty much a "money ball" roster, while Duke's "dark money" funded team lost in the Final Four. The money matters, obviously, but it's not the be-all and end-all.

Just never been paid at this level.
Players in the past had no way to have a bidding war every year for their services.
The mid major star was especially screwed where now they are the most highly coveted and paid players.

Bet Jon and Fran can tear up a Chili’s menu.

I can picture him now, rage eating some Honey Chipotle Chicken Crispers and contemplating the downfall of college basketball.
You have to post more often you crack me up too.

We still have to beat the Olandis Poole’s of the world. That’s the hardest part.

When you eat chili is needless to say what kind of analysis you will get at the other end of the spectrum.💨

Now, the college sports it is what it is , a by product of greed, corruption and decades of NCAA coverups and incompetence.

You can still do a good analysis, rank teams, and provide pertinent commentaries if you are actually doing true journalism work. But when you do click bates news and regurgitate the retweet’s than yes , you go ahead and eat chili and expect more : 💨

He isn't wrong. The entire thing has become FUBAR and no longer college basketball.
It is but what do you do? NIL is what it is now. UK and everybody else has to pay up. Maybe there will be some new way to regulate or stop the transfer portal from being the way it is now, but UK is my team and I want them to win titles

But you’ll keep banging checks right Fran? I mean you’re not so put off by the state of the game that you’d resign your lucrative gig in protest of the players getting their beaks wet, right?
