You could say he's finishing strong.

I'm not sure what shocks me more. That he went 6 for 6 in game one or that UVA has actually managed to get him out twice in game 2.

I still do not understand the reasoning in bunting Frazier while Armstrong resides at 1st. Armstrong is a tough out for any team while he is on the bases. Meanwhile Frazier was 8 for 9 going into that at bat. I would rather he swing away and hit into a double play then bunt in that situation.

Playing for one insurance run I guess. You're best hitter should be your best bunter. Advance Armstrong and let Detz and Renfroe get a crack at getting one more across. The only reason it's even questionable is because Frazier was 8/9 at the time. But I think it was the right call.

I sound like an idiot for preferring a double play. I definitely do not want us to hit into a double play, although I will question that bunt every time if we see a situation like that again. I just cringe whenever I see Frazier or Renfroe attempt a bunt. They have way too much success swinging to justify letting them bunt.

Yeah... you did, but I'll chalk it up to anti-buntite hyperbole.

You still figure your best hitter can lay down a simple bunt, get a really fast guy to second base, and let your two and three hitters each have a shot at simply getting a base hit. We were playing for insurance to give Girodo a few more batters before bringing in Kenny Powers. I can't really argue with the strategy, but given how he's been swinging, I can't fault others from seeing the other side.

So, I'll just let it be before a thread that is noting how incredible of a year Frazier is having becomes another mile long thread on bunt strategy.

I agree with you. I would have gone the hit and run route if anything. Especially the way Adam has been killing that hole between the 1st and 2nd baseman, but oh well.

I know one thing, if Hunter somehow manages to dig out of that 0-2 count and reach base in this 7th inning....I would bunt or hit and run with Pirtle to try and get him to 2B for Rea. Anything we can do to add to this lead. It makes me nervous when they are 1 man reaching base away from the tying runner at the plate.

I would have been good with the strategy if it had been anyone but Frazier because he is on fire at the plate and Detz is not. See if Frazier can get a hit and if he does bunt with Detz.

He was bunting for a hit. Probably Frazier was doing that on his own.
