both played at Iowa State. Fred Hoiberg is the stud new coach at Iowa State in his second year there that just upset Kansas today. Shane Power reminds me of this guy. Anyone know what Shane is upto lately? I wonder if he has an interest in coaching? It'd be cool to see some of our former players coming back later as assistants. I see this a lot with Syracuse, Duke, UNC etc... but never MSU. Why is that?

That was a great night. Threw over the top of Pitino's beloved press all night with Big Damp on the receiving end.

if in the 14 years Stansbury has been a head coach Shane Power is really the only player to come out of Stansbury's system that I could see being a coach himself? Maybe Timmy Bowers also.

I just find it odd that MSU doesn't have ANY former players from the 14 years that Stansbury has been a head coach that stick around Starkville and/or try to better their lives through the coaching ranks by being a GA or assistant. I don't even see them in the stands watching the games. I've seen Dampier before but he was under Williams not Stansbury. You see it with many other teams and programs. It's part of having a winning environment to have successful former players/pro's that have a small investment in continuing the success of the college program they were in. Almost every game I watch of UK they will show a former player in the stands. John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins etc...they come back when they can to offer their support. Not MSU. When's the last time you saw Varnado,Gordon,Austin,Bowers,Zimmerman etc. When they leave the basketball team they REALLY leave.

All play over seas. I guess the time they are home they probably want to be with their family,

He was a GA at a d2 school, then coaching at a high school near Birmingham.

He sold some stationary or biz cards company, I thought.

I hadn't seen him announce a game for a few seasons now.
