Trump's tax returns matter to most Americans about as much as Putin's Kremlin pension.
Americans hired Trump's financial skills for one reason.....jobs. If Trump manages to restore economic opportunity for any American who wants a good paying job, Trump can practically skip paying taxes and no one will give a damn if they have the kind of work that they want or need paying them what they need or want.
No matter how much the Left tries to deny Trump's political viability, how he delivers on that one non political issue will totally insulate him from virtually any or all of the Leftist carping about his "unfitness" or "undesirability" for continuing Leviathan's worthless existence.

If Trump managed to beat the IRS out of confiscating his earnings (legally) most Americans will stand up and cheer him, then ask how he did it?
The Left thinks Americans are clamoring for the IRS to "punish" successful people like Trump the way they want to do. They don't realize how despised the IRS is among most Americans, and that most Americans would gladly rather see them get defunded than collect more from taxpayers like Trump.
The only thing that would tick people off is if Trump cheated on his return, or faked his deductions...but I still doubt he'd turn into the pariah the Left is trying to make him out to be just because he's rich.

I really don't care.....just like I didn't care to see President Obama's school records which have never been seen or his birth certificate which he did show. I do expect the return will show how financially smart Trump is when it comes to his taxes.

I have no clue. But if past actions are any indications, he is attempting to change the news cycle with "breaking news". And apparently 2005 is a year he did very well so to keep the idea alive that he is very wealthy, he probably cherry picked a year that showed he did very well. But all of this is speculation by me. The story is the two pages of form 1040 from 2005 showed up in David Cay Johnston's mailbox.
They are suggesting Russia and China connections.
For someone with vast financial dealings as Trump, the front and back of the 1040 is like reading the table of contents of an Encyclopedia. Very few facts of anything that is worthwhile can be surmised by it.

The acknowledgement came as MSNBC host Rachel Maddow said she has obtained part of Trump’s 2005 tax forms, and prepared to discuss the document on her Tuesday night show.
The records have become highly sought-after because Trump refused to release his returns during the campaign, breaking a decades-long tradition. He claimed he was under audit.
The White House pushed back pre-emptively Tuesday night, saying that publishing those returns would be illegal.
“You know you are desperate for ratings when you are willing to violate the law to push a story about two pages of tax returns from over a decade ago,” the White House said in a statement.
Trump long insisted the American public wasn’t interested in his returns and said little could be learned from them. But Trump’s full returns would contain key details about things like his charitable giving and how much he made each year.
The issue a major point of attack from his rival Hillary Clinton, who suggested Trump had something to hide.
The White House has not said whether or not the president plans to release his returns while he’s in office.
