I know there are plenty of people who think Perkins should be a third down/specialty back. Well, too bad. That's not happening, nor is it today's question. The Friday Free for All is this:

Which of the three guys competing for carries behind Perkins would you like to see be the main guy? They each have different skill sets, so justify your answer with some solid reasoning.

For help, here are last year's overall stats. (I am not getting into SEC only or elite SEC only or any other BS like that.)
Robinson: 55 for 335, 6.1 ypc, long of 59, 1 TD; caught 3 balls for 8 yards, with a long of 9. Yes, 9.
Milton: 34 for 165, 4.9 ypc, long of 27, 2 TD; 1 reception for 3 yards
Griffin: 32 for 223, 7.0 ypc, long of 60, 1 TD; 2 receptions for 3 yards, with a long of 7. Yes, 7.

Of all those carries, there were only two fumbles, both by Milton, and only one fumble lost, but I am betting we all remember that one. The stats also don't take into account health, pass protection, grasp of the offense, etc.

I am going with Robinson. I like his bowling ball style especially inside but I think there's enough speed to be effective outside as well. I would like to say Griffin, but I just can't trust his knees right now. I would love for him to prove me wrong. Milton's talented too, but I haven't had a "wow" moment from him like I have from the the other two. I am not going to pretend that I am an expert or have practice insiders telling me about their blocking skills or anything else. I am strictly talking about toting the ball. Of those 120 carries that were split last year between those three, I'd like to see Robinson get at least 80 of them.

You sure it's not that 5'9'' 225lb build that has you leaning toward J-Rob? Do y'all share clothes?

Gotta go with Robinson. I'd say Griffin if he was healthy. And I think Milton may be the best RB of the bunch... but I'm afraid to go with him because of the fumbles.

I haven't seen the explosiveness from Robinson that we were promised. He's a stocky little dude - and that's what he looks like. I thought he was supposed to have ridiculous speed and quickness. Maybe he just needs to get a little more comfortable in the offense.

Griffin can be awesome if he's healthy. Robinson is the most fun to watch. Probably one of those two, but Milton is a pretty good option as well.

Nice luxury to have all four of these guys, with three of them here for at least two more seasons including this one. Throw in Shump and Aeris Williams and we've got an impressive stable of backs for the foreseeable future.

This is the one position I've never really worried about as long as I've been an MSU fan. We always seem to roll out good RB's.

Based on what I'd seen last year prior to Griffins injury, I would have wanted Griffin to be the primary backup. With Griffin spending a year rehabbing and Robinson getting another year in the system and another year to work on pass blocking, I'm guessing it will Robinson. As long as Robinson knows the playbook and has improved his pass blocking, and as long as Griffin is 100% or close to it, I'm fine with either and don't really have a preference; they both should be able to give us what we need between the tackles.

Griffin at 100% was/is no doubt our best pound it back tween the tackles. All you have to do is watch at LSU last year to see that. Yet, the coaching staff passes on that. Some of our decisions are head scratcher's.

1. Why didn't griffin get more pound it 1st and 2nd down carries?
2. At the gator, Why didn't we tell Tyler it's just not your day today son. don't worry, it happens. We are going to go with Dak/J Rob in the second half and pound it at them. Stay ready, and support Dak.

I digress.

I really like all of them. They can all do different things for us.

if I could have a fully healthy Griffin, that's who i'd pick

but since I cant, I want griffin and robinson to be splitting second team load

I think he should redshirt. We are loaded at RB and it's not that he couldn't

contribute because he could but why waste a year of eligibility with very limited pt.

Against LSU I hope we have Perkins and Griffin on the field at the same time. 2010 Florida their asses.

Honestly I like all 3. I wouldn't mind if any of them got the 2nd most carries. Win-win situation.
