I had not read the NCAA letter, and I stand corrected. The NCAA letter makes a very compelling argument about why they should be involved.<div>

Joe Schad is saying Micheal Buckner says it does NOT show lack of institutional control as defined by the Manual, and Bruce Feldman retweeted Micheal Buckner himself saying that PSU did in fact lack intitutional control as it is generally understood and defined. Seems like by the NCAA book/manualPSU did not, but generally speaking they did. This could be interesting...</p>

Yet we all know he did. They can spin the rules any way they want. The real question is what's right. And what's right here is to wipe Penn Statefootball out of existence.
This AJC writer nicely sums it up:
http://blogs.ajc.com/jeff-schultz-blog/2012/07/12/penn-state-football-deserves-death-penalty-for-cover-up/?cxntfid=blogs_jeff_schultz_blog

Look, I hear all the arguments that the people responsible will pay off the field, that we shouldn't punish the players who weren't involved, etc, etc.
But what we have here is an entity almost dedicated to covering up anything that would hurt their athletic reputation. You've got janitors unwilling to report what they saw to the proper authorities because they fear for their jobs. That's a sign that you have an atmosphere of corruptioninfluencing actionsfrom the very top to the very bottom. Removing just the top layer doesn't solve the problem here, nor do enough to deter it from happening elsewhere.
Collegiate sports and the power that comes with it created this monster. We need to smash what was created here. Tear it down to the very foundation. Let every other administrator, coach, janitor, and even fan of everyuniversity in America knows that if they see something criminal like this and don't report it, one of the things they love the most will be destroyed due to their inaction.
Make an example of Penn State.

I obviously have no facts to support this since this is unprecedented, however I'm inclined to think that if this was our AD and other high-ups that covered up molestation for so long, the NCAA would have qualms jumping in, ruling lack of institutional control (despite not gaining competitive advantage), and shutting us down.

One could argue, and it might have been stated before, that PSU DID gain a competitive advantage by having a hall of fame caliber coach continue to be on the sidelines (or up in the booth) and continue to recruit despite knowingly covering up for a series of felonies. Their competitive advantage comes in to play by selling the "play for Paterno" lines to recruits when in reality, Paterno shouldn't have been on the sidelines for the last 13+ years (assuming that was the beginning of the coverup). It's not a far stretch to think that PSU would not have pulled in some of the better recruits they had in the late 90s if it wasn't for the POS Paterno's reputation.

Although, I doubt the NCAA carries their logic that far...

Have u seen their commit list? All of this is coming out and they have a list of highly rated recruits including the top rated tight end in the country committed. What are these freaking coaches selling for them to commit to that place?
Guess he likes the smell of musky showers.

..the coaches currently doing the recruiting for Penn State are telling recruits that everything is being blown out of proportion, there is nothing to worry about, & it's the jealous Penn State rivals planting all these nonsense articles in the media.

The players believe the coaches, & commit.

Kids were transported across state lines for criminal purposes, so they have jurisdiction from that angle.<div>
</div><div>But, former Atty General/currentgovernorTom Corbett appears to have dragged out the Sandusky investigation (helping JoePa get the record?), accepted $25K campaign donation from 2nd Mile in his gubernatorial run and then as governor approves a $3 million grant for 2nd Mile in summer of 2011.</div><div>

</div><div>Also, in light of all that's been revealed the last year or so, should the Feds take a look into the mysterious disappearance of Ray Gricar, the DA that originally investigated the 1998 Sandusky allegations? Did he end up in South America or a wood chipper?</div><div>

and the appropriate authorities need to take action first, then the NCAA can have who/what is left after. Jail time is a good start.

And on a side note: Dan Mullen say some of you people actually felt like I was going leave "Our State" and go to State College and get caught up in middle of this ****!
