Barnhart hugging all over Stoops like that was weird considering that was a bad Auburn team. As long as Mitch is our AD we will never consistently be good in football.

It really shows what Barnhart is and it sends a bad message to the country about UK football. You can make 100 million here and the AD will hug you and retain you for winning 8% of your conference games over a few years 🤣

You know fans of other programs are making fun of our program over how they were acting last night. Id say they get a good laugh reading our board when 4-5 of these guys make crazy posts too.

Imagine if it was UK basketball and we watched an SEC program lose its *** in conference then the AD hugs and kisses a coach who’s responsible for the mess after he finally beats a 4-5 SEC team.

Problem is there is only 1 Mitch Barnhart so we wouldn’t see that.

I know a lot of UT fans…..they’ve been giving me sht about it. All I can do is say Tennessee football is a joke but it’s getting hard to say anything. Just have to agree with it. Especially after probably half the base actually supports Barnhart. lol.

You talking our AD, Josh Brooks? He is ok, nothing special, good guy. He didn't hire Kirby, our big boosters did that and retired AD was told to get the contract signed. So yeah I would swap him, I think CMS could bring a good bit defensively. We get Muschamp back, can you imagine how exciting our sideline would be with Champ and Stoops?
Let me re-phrase - trade Stoops for Georgia's Football First approach - would still throw in a few basketballs. Seriously though, it does not matter who coaches here. Until UK decides to hire an athletic leader who knows how important it is to build your football program in the $EC, results will be the same mediocre expectations.

Grumpy, you cheer for a football school so the ire you experience is when the ultimate goal of the $EC and national championship comes up short, at least you've won 10 or 11 games. At UK, the expectation is 6-6 and hopefully a bowl. When that expectation comes up short, its just a bunch of losses.

LOL. Georgia isn't that squeaky clean.

Georgia nah not clean but nowhere near Auburn or Tennessee. They’ve been known to hire good men and tries to retain them and keep some kind of culture. Auburn is full on win at all cost. They’re so dirty the entire athletic department should be shut down. Georgia has always had a family atmosphere to their program where they have some loyalty to them. Auburn is legitimately the worst of the worst. Alabama expectations but aren’t close to what that program is. Auburn is fully ran by boosters. The boosters hire and fire the AD’s and coaches. They are a cesspool. Georgia isn’t close to that. The only other program that bad is Tennessee but even they aren’t quite to the level of Auburn.

Georgia is cleaner than AU, UT, Bama, LSU, and Florida. I believe it 100%.

As far as fanbases, Georgia is a lot like Kentucky. They have some decent classy fans. Auburns fans are pure trash. I will never take my sons back down there. They are pure trash. I’ve been all over the SEC and Georgia has good people. Auburn is an absolute cesspool. I’ve never seen the likes of foul language in front of kids, drunk idiots everywhere, fights breaking out. They are terrible people. I’ve experienced nothing like that at UK, Georgia, USC, etc.

I believe it’s more like 1/4 of the fans support him. Sometimes I’m not sure if there are that many even. On this board theirs probably 4-5 and I wouldn’t be surprised if a couple are just trolls from other fan bases. What I don’t understand is how our biggest rival Louisville can try to be great in football and has higher expectations than we do. No way little brother should have higher standards than us and that should stop ASAP.

Yeah, and there goes our hope to get a proven coach... Stoops was never a head coach before he came to Ky.
Was Kirby a head coach b4 UGA? How bout Lanning b4 Oregon? Ron Day b4 OSU? Everyone starts somewhere. I don’t think Sumrall is interested in AU. I’ve heard LSU would be his top destination and UK if the Krafts want him #2. The source I heard said he thinks the Krafts prefer Stein and he knows he needs their support

I just cannot understand how anyone supports Barnhart. I’m sorry but no other SEC program would tolerate him. Like him fine but agree he should be running an SEC football program and blue blood basketball program is absurd. It’s not even close to the realm of understanding.

I just cannot believe how long he’s managed to hang in after Gillispie, Joker, retaining Tubb attempt, retaining Joker attempt, calipari contract, Stoops contract, mishandling of the NIL and on. It’s unreal how he’s got any support. My mother who grew up a UT fan and doesn’t pay too much attention has even said how is Mitch still employed after Stoops. I mean it’s not rocket science. Not only still employed but having buildings named after him. I have 2 uncles that were athletic directors so I’m familiar with their job. He really shouldn’t be standing at UK anymore. The guy has had unreal wealth thrown in his lap and this is what we have in both programs after nearly a quarter century? The mishandling of the basketball program and his unwillingness to work with Calipari when we had to have him should have easily been the nail in the coffin. Every single person familiar with Stoops at the time said do not offer him he’s maxed out. And he not only retains him he writes a check we can’t cash lol.

I’m afraid someone is in control at UK that cares nothing about wins and losses. Mitch is going something else they approve of and it has nothing to do with the field. This university has turned into a corrupt landlord who cares about nothing but rent payments.
They volleyball team is good, lol.

Sometimes I am a little slow but I get what you mean now. But I think it's a state thing more than a school thing. In Georgia high schools there is as much recruiting going on as there are for colleges for football players. A top 8th grader will get all kinds of offers to start 9th grade at a school. Just had another school build another full size indoor facility. Another spend 50m on a a 3rd on campus stadium. BB is a big deal to a few schools in metro Atlanta, but not so much around the state.

They have more NC's in football than we have in basketball. Yeah, they have sucked lately, but I'm fairly sure they qualify as a real program
Which team gets to claim ULs 2013 basketball championship? AU added 4 this year by claiming USCs 2004 championship, and 3 from 1910, 1914, and 1958. I don’t think claiming titles that you didn’t win makes you the champion. 😂 I’m not saying they haven’t been a real school but saying they have 9 titles is a joke.

well when the worst system in history of sports was in place it makes it kind of acceptable.

Auburn was a better team than usc. Pretty sure we’d be happy to claim that one had we been 13-0- kinda like we claim our one and only.

I'll never get why you people prop up our competition so much in order to make your own team look bad. have some pride man. Freeze was there for a cup of coffee. It was clearly a dumb hire. Another dumb hire. Maybe real programs don't do dumb stuff over and over again. get off their jock.

Best job in CFB!

What irritates me is this was easy to see coming. There are quite a few that never see it. Same thing with Calipari. Coach lovers who buy in too deep to the point where they can’t see it. I mean Stoops had clearly maxed here. I remember thinking don’t resign him that’s as far as he can go, have him resign the position and let him leave with a solid legacy here. Stoops is not a career SEC grade coach, he needs to be in the ACC or BIG12 and revive some dead programs in an easier conference. But what we do is we keep him far too long until he wheels fall off. These is vintage Barnhart, same thing with Tubby. Wanted to retain him into the wheels falling off.

I’m all for keeping coaches for legacy plays and I think the coaching chaos is ridiculous. It hurts the sport, but a program like UK must make smart moves to continue progress and Mitch always kills the gains. He did it with Brooks by hiring Joker, he’s done it with Stoops. Kentucky can’t afford to kill all of the gains someone makes, you have to know when to cut it, you have to make smart methodical moves after gains. We’re never going to see that as long as Barnhart is in charge.

I wouldn’t have re-signed him to a contract. If I remember correctly, it was just after that 10 win season. I realize some of that is almost like a reward but still I just think it was easy to see the guy was totally maxed. I don’t remember the exact year I just remember thinking I would move in another direction. He had me convinced there for a second too though, but I think it was more or less hard to argue with some of the results at the time. But still I’ve always thought we could be doing a lot better than Stoops given what an SEC tag means today and the money we have to compete.

Losing a chance at a home grown guy like Sumrall is something UK cannot afford. If he misses that window on another bad contract, I think most certainly a move needs to be made in the AD’s office. To me when you’re Kentucky missing that is inexcusable.

Cardstink loves arguing with me randomly. I don’t get it but I always know which account is his new one because he will try to argue with me over the dumbest stuff.

One of my favorite movies of all time is Lonesome Dove. Best made for tv movie ever made. Tommy Lee Jones plays the character Woodrow Call. If you like westerns you should definitely check it out if you haven’t seen it
