Not official but yeah. The sad part is he really has tried hard to get there, but his hole was just too damn deep to begin with.

Luckily, the rest of the crop that C34 claimed wouldn't be eligible are already enrolled and on campus.

Who is this C34 you speak of?

I call BS on him trying hard. I just think he is another failed recruit from South Panola. He's had chance after chance and keeps failing (pun intended).

All apart of the master plan. He will count as a 4* recruit next year. Recruiting championships!!!!!

From what I was told, his GPA could be good enough but he won't have enough credits towards a major to be eligible. He took so many "easy A" classes just to bring his GPA up but apparently those don't count towards a General Studies degree or whatever his major is. Hope he gets his act together. We're pretty thin at CB and the coaching staff whole-heartedly believes he's a shut-down NFL corner. He was likely only going to be here one year. Hopefully Conner has watched Snoop closely and does what he has to do.

How stupid would your staff have to be to have him enrolled in classes that he could make all A's in and still not be eligible? I have no idea what happened and don't really care, but that story doesn't pass the smell test.

Not just our staff, but also the staff at EMCC.

We knew it was a long shot when we resigned him and fell short. The news isn't too terribly shocking, but damn we need him.

The Brassell spin has changed more times than is even fair...

Fact is -- if Brassell doesn't make it now, he won't be playing football in the SEC again in his career thanks to the Masoli rule, which requires all scholarship players have multiple years of eligibility remaining in order to sign...

Wait- so you are blaming EMCC's coaching staff?

We knew it was a long shot when we resigned him and fell short. The news isn't too terribly shocking, but damn we need him.

I'll remember this the next time you attempt to call a State fan out for "spin".

Yeah- he has apparenltly made it for now

I think Conner already made it, could be wrong

The issue isn't getting them in to school- Brassell made it a year for Ole Miss- the issue is KEEPING them beyond one year.

Heck, I would be more shocked if they didn't get him in.

Brassell has been the biggest waste of talent in quite some time. He could have been a with his buddy Kendrick here at State. Oh well, too bad for TSUN.

This isn't true. His juco grades had nothing to do with it. He inherited his OM GPA when he returned. He had to be flawless. In other words, the guy had to make A's. It was too steep a hill to climb for a guy who flunked out with his study habits. That simple.

You just hit the nail on the head

These kids from South Panola are completely unprepared for college level work. Someone needs to clean house over there. I can only imagine the number of functionally illiterate people they are churning out onto society each year.

Couple of questions:

The sad part is he really has tried hard to get there

Why do you Ole Miss guys take such pride in this sort of thing? You did it with Powe, now with Brassell. You act like these guys just want to give it all and lay down their life for the flagship or something. It's not the case. That's not a shot at Ole Miss, it's the same with anybody. But these guys are at Ole Miss literally because you are the university willing to put in the work for them (which isn't a bad thing). You're the one who claimed you could get them eligible. I mean, that's the fact of the matter.

Luckily, the rest of the crop that C34 claimed wouldn't be eligible are already enrolled and on campus.

How many are enrolled and expected to be enrolled from the 2013 class? Serious question, not a flame, I have not kept up with that this year. For you, us or anybody else. Seems I remember that Liggins won't make it, and maybe somebody else is going JUCO?

You do know a heartbeat and general breathing pattern will earn you a B+/A- in..

Even the general studies "major" classes. You could get a majority of zoo animals to make a D or above in those classes.

The issue here is an issue I've seen with numerous OM recruits and recruiting classes. They are willing to overlook glaring issues, that more times than not, rear their ugly heads a year or two down the road, just to appeal to the biggest aspect of an OM fan's life...... Recruiting!!!! And getting more stars than their "NON" Rival. Over the years, that's a majority of the conversations you hear amongst the OM faithful. They are willing to take 50/50 or worse chances on these "higher" star players, to appease to their fan base. Last year I think someone on here (maybe Engie) broke down what each of their classes looked like present day with all of the attrition and "heppin gone bad" situations and the majority of the 4-5 stars never made it past 2 yrs. To me, signing a 15-30 class and retaining 95% of them is better than signing a top 15 class each year and losing half of the 4-5 star players that put you in the top 15 class. It's pretty basic math. And I predict even more defects from this class than the others, because they will soon realize that what Hugh spewed to them on the recruiting trail, was in fact myth, and they will never finish top 3 in the SECWest unless 4 teams leave the west for the NFL. You cant promise the world to these "Me Me Me" top recruits and then give them 4-8 win seasons. When they are hit with reality, they will become disgruntled. When they realize that Hugh and God don't have Webconferences weekly, they will be further aggravated.

Serious Question? Is there a clause in the OM signing day contracts that...

Is he not already signed? Regardless, no one I know expected him to make it. Anyone who did was just wishful thinking

Stipulates what percentage of the benefits have to be paid back to the OM slush fund, if a recruit fails to make it on campus? Or is the signing bonus just lost, and the monthly stipend cut off? Don't give me the ******** that neither of these isn't true either. Both are a fact, I just wondered if the OM recruiting alum had a clause in their February contracts that stated what had to be paid back. Being mainly lawyers, one would logically conclude that they'd be smart enough to draw up something of this nature. Like business do if you receive $ for schooling or a move, you have to remain with a company for a specified amount of time, or you have to repay the benefits at a prorated rate.

I'm asking this because OM alum have to be the worst business minds in America if they aren't getting their $ back. The last 5 years or so, has to be some of the worst ROI in the history of college football recruiting. 4-5 star players never seeing field, **** 2-4 win seasons, over half empty stadiums. This doesn't equate to the $ that's been forked out pre-February each year. Either they are getting the $ back from the Pat Patterson's of the past, or are just plain idiots that have some of the worst business skills I've seen in quite some time, repeatedly throwing money down the *******.

Because we like great football players. Both of those guys chose to be Rebels when they could've gone anywhere. We shouldn't fight for them? I tell you what, let Mullen and them know that they should start telling recruits that they shouldn't go to OM because they take pride in fighting for their players to stay eligible**. If you don't mind, please spread that "propaganda" as much as possible

If he didn't expect him to make it. Unless he was just trying to upstage our baseball team's National Title Game run with a class that ranked third in the SEC West.**

or Grand Slam or whatever they called it is starting to look like a bloop single at best. And the one guy that has panned out for them has a broken leg. And possibly even worse, that group of guys forced them to keep Tyrone Nix around for another season which included going 0-8 in the SEC and a loss to La Tech.

Poor Stan Sandroni

Listening to radio a few preseasons ago, I heard Sandroni say "Snoop Brassell" over and over and over. He must be really saddened his NFL star is in his final hour.

Maybe Sandroni will find another street name he will be so fond.

never make fun of a poster on here for posting crap, after this post. Seriously. Do you even remotely believe that, or did you just think we would be dumb enough to fall for it?

They look pretty damn good to me, and getting better. Don't worry CJ is fine. Turns out an unranked Nkemdiche was in that class too. That one is still paying dividends, and will be for a while. So I guess we didn't hit a MS Home Run, but we sure as hell hit a GA Grand Slam. I'll take it...Oh and I forgot about Moncrief. And Golson is getting better. From a timing perspective it worked out just right. If things hadn't happened when they did, we might not have Freeze. At the time it sucked but using my 20/20 hindsight, it couldn't have fallen into place much better

So, all of that was worth one 6-6 season? That's things "falling into place" for you? I'll tell you why things fell into place for you- because Auburn and Arkansas were a royal cluster 17 and we had Chris Wilson. Good luck this year.

I should have known better though- hey, the Mississippi home run didn't work out, but at least we got another guy that helped us land the third best class in the SEC West! Now you have more players that haven't done a darn thing on the football field yet!
