It makes me feel better about our chances for enough of turnaround for next season to be competative for an SEC tourney shot and maybe a regional, watching some of the Texas pitching. Jungman won yeaterday as a freshman and some of Texas middle relief--Dicherry- was pretty good most of this series: I think that I saw that he was 8-2 with around a 2.5 era. It's unfortunate that we will be so dependent on freshman help, but hopefully we can get some of newcomers to step up.

if we get 1-2 to really step up consistently next year, we should consider ourselves very fortunate. The good news is we do have a legit ace in Nick Routt, who I think will be even better, and we have Tyler Whitney, who will be a veteran senior. So, really we're asking 1 out of 8 or so to really step up, which is reasonable, but not guaranteed.

Because they're Fr., I think Cohen is going to put them in a variety of situations and I think he's going to be pretty careful with them so they don't get their confidence shattered. I think Dixon is going to get the first crack at being the closer, and it's good that he has some starting experience, because we're probably going to need to stretch him some at times to win.

But what I'm really excited about is 2-3 seasons down the line when they're mature, have some experience, and maybe a season of summer ball under their belt.

But once again, Butch Thompson is going to have his work cut out for him. But I don't think it will be nearly as daunting as last year, and I don't think it will be nearly as bad as last year.
