are we giving any credit now that they beat orange hands down. that was sad.Western Albemarle Charlottesville!
I think Orange County gives Louisa all they can handle!![]()
I think Louisa is a top 4 team in 4A!
Let’s see your new top 10
Unfortunately for EV and Louisa 4 of top 5 are in same region...1. Dinwiddie
2. Blacksburg
3. Monacan
4. Louisa
5. Eastern View
6. EC Glass
7. Lafayette
8. Deep Creek
9. King's Fork
10. George Washington
How exactly to do you mean "gotten the passing game going"?Louisa has gotten its passing game going and has been using all 8+ of its offensive weapons in creative and nifty ways the last few weeks. They will have to continue to show it in the playoffs, but the balanced attack is getting better and better. EV will have to show they can play power football when the time comes. I know it was early in the season, but even Orange was able to contain the rush against them in the first half besides one big play. Louisa did whatever it wanted to Orange from the opening kickoff. The game didn't get remotely interesting until the score was 21-0 early in the second quarter and Louisa had a couple of special teams errors.

All I will say is don't sleep on Malik Bell. He's been a different player and person since he saw DP's post from a couple of weeks ago. It's only sad that it took a post from here to finally light a fire in him, but we'll take it.How exactly to do you mean "gotten the passing game going"?

I will go into detail about how I viewed the Orange/EV game, since others are scared to, and stats alone don't tell any story. EV had a 45 yard run up the middle on their first offensive play (which is how the RB got most of his yards), then Orange stopped three straight run plays near the goal line. EV then missed a field goal. On EV's second drive, they had a 10 yard run on 1st down, then got stuffed at the LOS the next couple of times they ran and had to punt. On the following Orange drive, they ran on EV the first play for about 6 yards, and EV also helped with a facemask to move the ball past midfield. On the following play, Orange ran for 5 yards. Then they got stupid and chucked the ball deep on EV's very good DBs. A couple of plays later, Orange had about a 25 yard rush which I guess was called back for holding or a block in the back, don't see anything clear on the film. Two plays later, 10 yard rush by Orange. On 3rd and 7, they could've run again since they were fairly deep in EV territory but threw it long again and EV made a great diving play. Then the drive stalls out on 4th and 7. EV's third drive, 3 and out, and that included a nice scramble by the QB. EV punts and Orange runs for 6 yards on the first play. Orange then throws deep yet again, but this time beats EV and is stopped at the 1, and Orange scores on the next play, a run. This was all in the 1st quarter, and the score is 7-6 EV to start the 2nd. (EV's 1st quarter TD came from the pick 6 from Orange's 1 foot line. Orange decided to throw a bubble screen from their own 1 on 1ST DOWN.) EV returns the following kickoff after Orange's TD past midfield, near the redzone. EV rushes for a first down, then is stuffed at the LOS again inside the redzone. Then the RB has a good run, and EV finally scores their first offensive TD on a zone read QB run. EV then finally holds Orange to a 3 and out, because, you guessed it, Orange threw deep again on 2nd down. Orange punts and gives EV a short field, and EV scores a few plays later on a nice scramble and pass play by the QB. No need to go into further details. Basically the story of the first half was EV capitalizing on short fields gifted by Orange. Orange could've controlled the first half better if they didn't play stupid football. They chucked it deep way too much and didn't run the ball enough, even though they had success running. Since that game, Alexander of Orange has turned into our area's leading rusher, even over Folley of Charlottesville.
Meanwhile, Louisa had over 350 yards rushing in the first half against Orange. Orange couldn't stop anything Louisa ran, and Louisa only had 1 short field, which was the opening drive after a 66 yard opening kickoff return. The Lions only had one 4th down in the first half, and it was a 29 yard TD pass. Alexander of Orange only had one good run, which was the long TD a few plays after Louisa jumped offside on punt return. Louisa dominated the LOS on both sides and Orange's only success passing came on deep passes on QB rollouts since he would've gotten killed in the pocket. EV's lines are overall bigger than Louisa's, but Louisa's is stronger, quicker and better. The defensive line was in Orange's backfield nearly every play, and this was a much improved Orange team from the EV game regarding play calling. It was pretty much a college team playing a high school team.
Come on Evcyc....don't you understand? When Louisa gets stopped it's because they're sloppy....whenever EV gets stopped it's because they're not that good.Wow. That was impressive! A couple things (please keep in mind I am really rooting for Louisa. If the Gods would allow it, a Louisa/EV round 3 game in louisa. Man that would be something. Culpeper would travel well there. To your points..
Yes you are correct that first qt was by far the worst qt we played (game 2 of the season). We have since (and I think did it in that game) corrected the assignment issues..
But are you really going to compare rushing yards between a spread team and what Louisa runs. Your offense is designed to have 9 people in the box blocking, lineman fullbacks etc. We block with 5 lineman and no lead blocker. I assume the concept of the spread is understood. They take away the run we throw, they take away the pass we run. We don't go into thinking we need 400yds rushing. We want 200yds rushing and 200yds passing.
I am not looking to go back and forth, your a good dude, and I can appreciate how much you like your team, and I'm sorry Chancellor/Courtland coaches and fans said we were better. They only think we are better because we scored on them from everywhere, the ground, the air, defense etc. They had no idea the better team was who could rush more against Orange.
BTW your description left the part out where we scored 35 points in the second qt.
Yes I am just having fun with you.
All hail the Louisa Lions boys!! State champs already!! No one can play with these guys!!![]()
Both EV and Louisa shouldn't bother be concerned with each other. The only chance they would meet would be in the 4B championship game. Which would only occur after EV beating Dinwiddie and Louisa beating Monacan, following 1st round wins at home. Not an easy road to get there. If I were coaching these teams I would just worry about being 1-0 this week.
Though I'm not sure that is the mindset at EV as most of the team was at the Louisa-Orange game on Friday night.
Makes sense. It's only a 15 minute ride to OrangeYou are saying that EV went to scout Louisa on there off week? Interesting!
Yes sir. Probably at least 20 players plus the staff. I was a little surprised. As a former coach that is looking way ahead IMO. If I weren't concerned with the rest of the Battlefield schedule, I would be starting to scout either my 1st round opponent(PH/Midlo/Courtland) or Dinwiddie/Monacan. To look at Louisa at this point is just a waste of time and a poor focus for your team. You are saying that EV went to scout Louisa on there off week? Interesting!
Come on Hoos, your better than that comment.Just another reason people don't put much stock in the staffs up there.
I'm sure the coaching staff is scouting Dinwiddie plenty. If you think you're going to get a team of players to travel to Richmond for a scouting trip....good luck. Traveling 15 minutes down the road is pretty easy...and isn't a waste of time.....it's called "team building". You never know who you may end up playing.Yes sir. I find the whole EV/Louisa argument to be hilarious. "Well Chancellor and Courtland say that EV is better!" But "Louisa beat Orange worse than EV so they are better!".
At the end of the day Dinwiddie and Monacan are at the top of 4B until one of these teams knocks them off. Getting in a pissing match with each other is simply a waste of time.
Yeah I deleted it but not quickly enough. I didn't see any group of kids who looked like a possible football team there and I was there really early and saw everyone around the park. Doesn't mean they weren't there but I didn't see any.Come on Hoos, your better than that comment.
That's the silliest thing I have heard. Anyone looking for fake news please read the post by gtidepride. A few things, many EV kids have friends that play for Orange including mine. The kids don't care one bit about watching the next opponent play or the playoff opponents. They are just out having a good time. I promise you the coaches were at the game they were supposed to be at. Silly little man!!
No one was getting into a pissing match. Well maybe some take this a bit far, but it is just posturing and chest pumping. Everyone knows what the road looks like. No one went to scout Louisa,![]()
. Seriously man, your on a board where the idea is to banter back and forth, gather some info, post an opinion, learn something, teach something and it's all for not. If your in it for something other than that, your in the wrong place.
As you can tell, Emmitt the Fixit Man doesn't post very often. Sometimes one of you dummies makes me use my keyboard though. EVcyc is correct. The coaching staff was at the Courtland-JM game preparing for the next opponent. No coaches were at the Orange-Louisa game. Louisa isn't anywhere in Coach Hatfield's or EV's thought process as of now, but some of the Louisa fans on here sure seem to worry about EV for some reason. See you in November, maybe.
Who said you were the dummy? Keep it between the ditches there big fellaNow I'm a dummy. Man. I haven't said one bad thing about EV. I actually think they are a really good football team. I stated that I was surprised to see that many players and a least two adults I spoke to that identified themselves as members of the coaching staff at the game. Again I called out both Louisa and EV people for smack talking each other with "expert analysis". Twice I've been personally attacked. Though having heard the horror stories from the guys that coached middle school for me back in the early days of EV about trips to F.T. Binns and what they encountered, I guess I shouldn't be that surprised.
If EV and Louisa meet in November both fan bases will be pretty happy. And with that I'm on to Charlottesville.
