Really surprised he didn’t get charged with the error there. It wasn’t the easiest play, but the batter was safe because Forsythe couldn’t get the ball out of his glove. Not because it was a tough grounder

They scored 3 runs without getting a ball out of the infield. Statistically, that would suggest poor fielding or poor pitching. Statistics won out this time. A bad luck inning.

When a guy hits the first pitch of his at bat high over the fence statistics bear that result out as well. Making your own luck right there.

I’ve got no problem with Stinnett getting innings, but he’s just not the guy to bring in when you’re already in trouble. In 12 innings this season, he has 7 walks, 3 hit batters, and leads the team with 7 wild pitches

Not the kinda pitcher that’s going to calm things down with runners on.

After seeing the replay, no way James throws him out even if he fields that, or it would have been very tough. The runner was moving on contact.

That's the way it looked to me anyway...

Second one tonight that was an E in my book. If James had gloved it, made a throw, and failed to get the out in time, fine... call it a hit. But he flat missed that ball. I don’t see how it wasn’t an error

A shortstop who can field and throw to first base crisply and accurately, and who doesn't stand in the batters box and watch a called third strike every time up to bat;
A third baseman who can do ANYTHING associated with that position correctly, and who can occasionally with runners in scoring position;
A first baseman who can hit and field the position;
A leftfielder who takes fielding the position cleanly and doesn't lollygag around when fielding ground balls.

I get that it's a meaningless series at this point of the season. But there's nothing positive about tonight's game other than putting some players in pressure situations.

absolutely. As a scorer also you don't assume the play goes home anyway. He fields it he should get an out at first. The ball to Forsythe that got reversed was also an error.
