this is straight copy/paste so forgive the spelling errors...

"<font><font size="2" face="Arial">UT (not Kiffin) was the first to bid on Cam. They offered
$140K, and Mullin was made aware of this by Cam's father. A week later, AU upped
the bid to $180K (This is where the figure you're seeing on the internet is
coming from). Cam's dad called Mullin and told him AU was offering $180K, but if
MSU matched it, Cam would sign with State because they liked Mullin better.
Mullin declined and told Cam's dad if Cam signed with AU, he would report him to
the NCAA. Cam's dad told him to go ahead, because by the time the investigation
was completed, Cam would be in the NFL. This is EXACTLY how it went down. Wait
and see..."</font></font>

If this happened as stated, Auburn got played like a 17ingStradivariusand will likely get reamed hard over this. They sold their souls for a great season which will likely turn into 12+ forfeits after everything shakes out.

I remember it being Oklahoma, MSU, and Auburn at the end, and Auburn not really being in the picture until late.

Just seems strange that UT first offered, then Auburn?

here in Tenn started having UT insiders reporting on the possibility of Newton coming to Knoxville. George Plaster (104.5 The Zone out of Nashville) was interviewing a guy (can't remember his name) who was a former UT athletic department guy who now pimps out his services to radio stations, and they were discussing Newton. Plaster asked him where he thought Newton would end up and he said there was a fair chance he would be in Knoxville but that MSU is probably where he would end up due to the relationship with Mullen. Never heard anything about Auburn until after the egg bowl and bam.....going to the plains.

If Cecil is calling Mullen direct, then where does the Rogers/Bond conversation come in?

Cecil was sponging what he could get out of renting cam to colleges and Rogers was somewhat involved in that process, but Rogers' primary benefit to Cecil is access to Ian Greengross.

I think this is where the NCAA focus will actually be.

1) If this is how it went down, why didn't Mullen report AU to the NCAA months ago??

2) Why did Bond wait so long to go public with this damning information?

These questions may be German on the board but I sure would like to know the answers.

I hope we don't become road kill because of this run away truck.

And at what point is it revealed that Cecil Newton has been molesting Cam Newton and twelve other kids since 1998?

A. Bond was interviewed y the NCAA months ago, we turned it in the SEC which then went to NCAA so thats the reason for delay.

B. Wasn't Kansas State in there also or am I confusing recruits?

If there is half as much information out as is getting reported then the SEC will look like hell on this. We all know Coach O was a great recruiter and terrible coach. We may now know why he was the latter. As a poster said look at da cars.... Coming out of school with two cents in your pocket driving a new ride..... I didn't realize that was part of the package. I guess if your Newton its a new wing to a church. To bad info came out this week like it did with all the other grieving going on......

the rest of the nation will just say this is typical recruiting in the conference. Get ready for Boise St in the NC game.

football across all major conferences......ie, USC, Michigan, Ohio State (Clarett), etc. I don't think anyone sitting in their glass house is going to come out with the idea that this ONLY happens in the SEC. They were just stupid if they ever thought that it didn't happen. Maybe the conclusion should be that if you play with fire, you will, eventually get burned...no matter who you are or what conference your allegiance is to.

I'm not as up on the NCAA rules as most on here but it would seem to me that if Cecil was soliciting money straight from Mullen .... wouldn't that be considered the Point of contact" that the NCAA would be looking for ??? all this other discussion about "it's legit" because the $ went to his father or church, or they can't prove the agent was connected to Cecil as he is now denying the association.....seems like this would prove the intent
