Oklahoma State played without
Star freshman Cade Cunningham, who had 24 against Baylor the last game.
Isaac Likekele, who also didn’t play against Baylor.
Sophomore Avery Anderson III had 31 points … never made more than 17 in any game this season. The III tonight stood for Aye Aye Aye on behalf of Oklahoma State. Anderson had 9 against Baylor.
Freshman Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe with 18 points
Twins Kalib Boone (12), who started, and Keylan Boone (11). Kalib had 10 against Baylor.
Starter Walker scored 1 point for Oklahoma State. Also 1 against Baylor.
Starter Williams scored 4 points for Oklahoma State. And 6 against Baylor.
Starters had 66 points, subs had 19 points, including 11 by Keylan Boone
Derek Culver had 22 points and 19 rebounds on January 4 in the victory over Oklahoma State. He didn’t start, played fewer minutes than 5 teammates and had only 14 points and 5 rebounds tonight.
Deuce McBride had 21 points and 4 rebounds in the January 4 game. He played the most minutes (34) tonight, had 12 points and 2 rebounds. So Batman and Robin scored 17 fewer points and had 16 fewer rebounds tonight than on January 4 when the Cowboys had their star Cunningham in the game.
Even with such a miserable performance, WVU was ahead, 73-72, with 3:34 left and Oklahoma State was without Cade Cunningham (25 points and 9 rebounds against WVU in the January 4 matchup), Isaac Likekele (22 points and 7 rebounds on January 4), Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe (didn’t play vs. WVU on January 4) and his 18 points and Bernard Kouma (2 points and 2 rebounds January 4) and his 10 rebounds. And lost against the Cowboys’ mostly 2nd team!
On Senior Night and a chance to honor Coach Huggins for a 900th victory.
That was the oh my God, the bad and the ugly of this game.
I am flabbergasted and disheartened. The eyeball test was even worse than all of the above.
Tonight we sub a black armband for gold and blue.
Only zombies wouldn’t see this as a wakeup call for the Big 12 tournament starting Thursday.
ARE YOU AWAKE YET, GUYS?
