The current Banner M was designed by a branding company in 2009. It has been tweaked like 3-4 times since then.

The Banner M is the university logo. It's not going anywhere, and honestly there's nothing wrong with it. The jihad against it is really weird.
Well, our fan base has always mirrored the university: “Consistently inconsistent”******

I've never seen or heard of an administration where they are intentionally not giving the customers what they want. That interview pissed me off more. Go to the interlocking emblem for football and let it be footballs thing just like the M over S is baseballs thing, it's not that freaking hard
I think Selmon doesn't want to switch helmet logos because the move to the Script State was one of his first acts and there's a lot of sunk costs there. Also, *I believe* there's a lot of resistance in the administration to be being branding as "M-S-U."

So where will you buy clothes?
Most recently I bought my daughter a Lulu sweatshirt from B&N.

She's training to be a cage fighter, evidently, per Faulk.

Also Hadad was wrong. The Lulu line contains the Banner M and script &tate. It doesn't contain skinny msu so he tells people to go shop elsewhere.

Given that a decent portion of the fanbase, if SPS is considered representative, hated him as a choice before he ever got off the plane in Starkville, he'd do well to under promise and over deliver. Not that those fans will ever be on board regardless of results...
Man, I’ve got nothing against you, but this crap is nauseating. Since I’ve got time to burn this morning, I went back to look at the threads when he was hired in Jan23. Some excerpts….

“Great stuff. Like that Dude!” - Mayor of LL

“I think he's just what we need right now.” - Patdog

“Time will tell but think we just might have us a good one in Zac. With a fresh AD and for the most part a set of fresh coaches I'm pretty pumped about what the future might bring.” - MSUDOG24

“That's a level of professionalism we've never had at AD. With that being said, I think he'll do well and probably get hired by Oklahoma in 4 years.” - Onewoof

“He's been my # 1 choice / hope from the get go. His work history and fund raising results are awesome and he seems like a fine young man with high energy. I hate forced diversity (affirm action) but I Love diversity when it's earned.” - Candoitsal

The worst thing I could find was a poster saying that the hire didn’t him the warm & fuzzies.

I know this is hard for some to imagine, but there are times when people are disappointed in a person simply because they’re not doing a good job. Not because everyone’s a racist

Well said.

Also, premium subscriptions (of which I will never belong) is license to pontificate.

Plus, why should I pay a premium for consuming more content on losing?*******

On3 Premium Membership = Bulldawg Junction Lifetime Membership? **

I always give the new administration a chance.

However, I would characterize what I’ve witnessed as “no promises and under delivering”

I didn’t know that Selmon attended MSU. **

No race implication intended. I recall people calling for his head when he didn't fire Lemonis as soon as his plane hit the ground (<---purposely over the top to get the point across lest LiterallyPolice make a resurgence) among other way too early takes on his capabilities. I have no idea if he does, or is going to, suck. I don't have time atm to go find the responses that I felt were either very early judgement, all the way to holding him responsible for things he was not even involved in, like promoting Arnett (yes, someone blamed him for that in a post).

There are many posts that would cause one to believe that some have been chomping at the bit to announce his failure. I do not know why that is.

This is what he was responding to:

He's been pretty consistent with this veiled accusation. So have a few other posters.
The above is not a veiled accusation. It is a true statement. I have been guilty in the past of pontificating about all of the possible reasons that people are anxious to call him a failure. It is still a puzzle to me.

I disagree as I think most people have been generally pro-Selmon so far. But at some point you’ve gotta make some things happen in that job. He’s not exactly the new guy anymore, in January he’ll have been two full years on the job.

When the situation is bleak, you’ve gotta give your fans something to latch onto and look forward to. If literally everything feels terrible and you’re not giving folks anything to look forward to, what incentive do people have to care?
I think that "most" is a fair statement based on what I've seen/heard. And I do believe he needs to find something positive to point to in order to ease the current pain. I just don't know what would do that for football right now. It's hard for me to conjure up any hopeful scenarios near term. Ideally, hoops will live up to the hype and provide some fan relief. The sellout of season tickets for MBB tells me that if we have a competitive team fans will care and support them. I suppose that could be hopeful for football, but since there was not season 1 magic with Lebby, he is going to have to win first to get fans back.

I’m not a premium member which means I didn’t read the article. Considering that this is SPS, I know I can feel free to opine about this topic since uninformed commentary about MSU is one of our staples.

All of this is to ask: Did you really expect Selmon to say that we’re spending freely in a time when new budget items will be coming up that will require funding?

Of course not.

It’s to be expected that with this seal of the Athletics Apocalypse being broken that MSU’s response would be to follow the Gospel of St. Larry in the Black.
Well you follow the Gospel of St. Larry or you follow the Gospel of St. Sewanee Athletics.

The M State logo was drawn up by a student Mgr in the late 1980’s, like ‘89 or maybe 1990 and given to Templeton and he loved it.
Possible that he took it to Richard Williams and asked his input but Williams DID NOT draw it on a napkin and nor was he the architect of the M State banner.
Said former Mgr is not receiving royalties from the image/logo due to Templeton being the cheap SOB he was/is!

Can confirm this story. I worked with the mgr while we were both students and now he does design work in DFW.

It’s not weird. It’s generic and that’s why people don’t like it. To me it looks like it would be on the rack at Wal Mart.

Looks like Banner M is here to stay. Fans can go kick rocks and an IPF will take until 2028 to get done. Lol 😂
That entire interview sounded like an interview with Kamala Harris. It was nothing but word salad with no substance. Selmon has to go. We need a real A.D. in here!

Let's face it, &tate is trying to copy Ole Miss.

I disagree wholeheartedly. This reads like something an ole miss Twitter troll would say.
State script was a throwback logo featured on a baseball uniform that people really liked and clamored for. It was pretty organic until the current administration decided to lean into it probably too far.
I do agree that the banner M gets way too much hate and is worth keeping. The updated version is a massive improvement over the original from the 90s-early 00s, and it has some recognition value.

Talk about generic logos. I could go on and on.

This whole discussion goes to show you the Mississippi State fan base is the most whiney-assed fan base in the country.

Maybe not as much as you think.

I agree &tate was there already, on some uniforms throughout our history. But I'm talking about it going on the helmet, and trying to push it as the official athletics logo.

I’m not sure customers really are calling the interlocking logo. A certain age group is definitely calling for, an age group that is well represented by this board. There was plenty of merchandise with the interlocking logo available last year and I really don’t see many people wearing it. And the ones that are wearing it are usually in their 40’s.

A whiney *** discussion that you are fully engaged in. I guess what I meant was that there are a few other M’s with banners across them, therefore not setting itself apart. Anyway, I’d rather see the M over S for everything but that’s just my opinion. I’m a faithful bulldog and will continue to buy tickets, contribute to NIL, and wear whatever school logo to support my team.

Rumors are encouraged here? Rumor I heard is that Univ. of Oklahoma’s AD is stepping down and Selmon is the heir apparent.

I'm not the one complaining about helmet logos and trying to get rid of a perfectly fine brand - the Banner M.

Also, I get why people want to move to the Interlocking helmet logos, I just think the timing is bad to make ANOTHER logo change so quickly after adopting the Script State. The Interlocking looks really good on a helmet and with some tweaks to the jersey it would look sharp. IMO, the Script State also looks good on a helmet, so I'm not as bothered by keeping it. Both logos are an improvement over the Banner M, which is fine as overall university logo, but looks kind of static on a helmet. Many schools have different logos on their helmets than their primary logo - Michigan, LSU, FSU, ASU, Oregon, Utah, etc.

However, we've already worn the M over S on a helmet (in 2021) and it was very meh. You didn't hear the calls to "make it permanent" like you did after the Kentucky game last year.
