about them staying out and contributing to society is the best option. Just administer random drug test, police visits and the such for the rest of their lives. We spend so much money every year to keep the big bad weed smokers in jail, when really they need to be out there working and paying taxes, with most of their freedoms taken away. Ly ike I wouldn't allow them to drink beer, step on school campuses, 40 hours mandatory community service each month for 30 years.<div>
</div><div>If they miss the community service without prior approval by the sheriff, then they spend that time in custody until they make up the time.</div><div>
</div><div>The money we save on them not being in jail will pay for the extra sheriff staff needed to manage these losers.</div><div>
</div><div>I was partly kidding about killing them on the second strike, but I bet people would take notice to the punishment.</div>

Seems like a no brainer: pot laws are retarded. I personally can't stand potheads, but my god, they're only hurting themselves.
.... but that's a crapload of pot to buy just for their own use. i know a pot head (actually 3 of them), they have "breakfast"... "snack after lunch".... 4:20 break.... and one after dinner. they wouldn't go through that much.

1. That's way too much weed to own for "medicinal" purposes. That said, I'd rather fund this guy's pockets than the murdering drug lords south of the border who make billions of dollars off of Americans each year.<div><div>
</div><div>2. Laws against marijuana are, to say the least, extreme. Is this guy (even as a repeat offender) worse than drunk drivers? Finance pirates? Armed robbers? Child molesters? I doubt it, but you'd be surprised at sentence lengths for some pot dealers compared to those who commit more threatening offenses.</div><div>
</div><div>3. Even though I think the laws are illogical, logic suggests he should have moved elsewhere if it meant that much to him.</div><div><div>
</div><div>4. While smoking isn't healthy, it's much safer than most drugs, including alcohol... the numbers don't lie. But like anything we put in our bodies (pills, booze, food) it can be abused and deteriorate the overall productivity of one's life. Like most problems we have in the world today (pregnancy, drugs, obesity) education/awareness is what we should focus on.</div><div>
</div><div>5. As far as personal use goes, I liken it to a bourbon on the rocks after a hard day's work. Or a sixer of beer on a Saturday. Just something to take the edge off (with no risk of a hangover). It's helped my creative drive when used in moderation. It's turned me into a total bum when used too much.</div><div>
</div><div>6. To make it relevant to the original post: someone needs to photoshop his "garden" behind them.</div> </div> </div>

Marijuana laws are modern day prohibition. They take something that's in demand and relatively harmless in moderation (much less so than alcohol) and illegalize it, leading to the creation of a violent criminal element to produce and distribute it. I won't argue that there aren't sometimes negative consequences for individuals who abuse it (just like alcohol), but I'll argue any day that society as a whole would be better off if it were legal.

Or are you regurgitating propaganda ******** that's been shoved down everyones throats. Pot doesn't lead to using hard drugs, human nature does. I smoke pot regularly, yet I've never moved on to harder drugs and have never really considered it. Why? Because I don't want to. Smoking cigarettes leads to...guess what? DEATH. CANCER. But I would bet you'd be pissed about liberal big government telling people they can't smoke cigarettes.

And since when do we outlaw something which LITERALLY NO ONE ON PLANET EARTH has been verified to die from its usage, because it MIGHT lead you to try something which MIGHT kill you. Why don't we outlaw cars since driving them leads to thousands of deaths each year? Or with your (the governments) line of thinking, let's outlaw BJs becaus they might make you want to have intercourse, which might give you an STD that could kill you?

Apologies for the rant.

Were they using black lights or fluorescents to stimulate plant growth inside, perhaps hydroponics?

Someone I once knew grew some amazingly large plants inside his apartment about 40 years ago.
But not 150 of them. That's dealing, dude.

The legalization and availability of Pot is similar to why the old Soviet Union made vodka cheap and available- to anethesize the public to their bleak, desolate lives.

Marijuana, not religion, is the opiate of the masses.

Aside from the incredible insight offered offered by Hump, I appreciate it. As I said in the original post, I'm not preaching.....just curious. The main reason I was never interested was simply fear of punishment and my belief that it's wrong, a point I didn't feel was necessary to make in the original post. I've just never really been around it, and was just interested in your answers.
Village, you make a good point, sarcastic or not. My answer is that sex between spouses isn't illegal, I suppose....... I do NOT want to turn this into a religious thread......was honestly just curious, that's all.

Edited to add: I failed the reply tutorial. Idiot.

I'd be more worried about the drugs big pharma shoves down American's throats then something that grows in dirt.

Why pot? If the government wanted some sort of chemically induced populace, they'd have done it already via legal means: prescriptions or chemicals in our water and food supplies. Virtually nothing we put in our bodies gets there before going through some government regulated entity. If they want hazed out lemmings, they don't need cannabis to do it.

If the government pushes for legalization, it's because it's harm to humans is in the same ballpark as alcohol/tobacco, would provide a new revenue stream (gotta fund the ridiculous spending!), and clear out a ton of space in our overcrowded/underfunded prison system.

Hydro isn't necessarily more potent. Potency is determined by the strain and the growing conditions.

Advantages to hydro:
Better growth rate
Faster harvest
Easier to stabilize PH
Less maintenance
No pest or weeds in growing medium
More control over growing medium
Don't have to be repotted due to growing root system
Less water to grow

That $55,000 quoted in the article is an example of cops lying to sensationalize the story.

is infinitely worse than Marijuana. Look up the % of violent crimes committed when the perpetrator is under the influence of alcohol. It'll scare you. I don't smoke but I do think it should be made legal and sold by the government. The money should go to reducing our debt. How much money and jobs would this create for the USA? It would save taxpayers billions by not flooding our jails with weed offenders also and the money being spent on weed wouldn't go to drug traffickers. It would cycle back into the economy. Violent crimes committed during drug buys would be reduced as well. I'm really not sure at all why alcohol is allowed yet Marijuana isn't.

because it is classified as an illegal drug. It's a mental thing especially inadolescence. Doing one illegal substance(weed) and saying "Hey this is fun I like this" can lead to maybe trying out other "harder" illegal substances because they are technically classified the same. A decriminalization at the federal level would greatly reduce this stigma imo.. or at the very least remove it as a freakin schedule 1 substance (same as heroin, cocaine, and meth!)

The problem is that in MS it is illegal and the Mr. Monroe is an idiot to have that many plants growing in a neighborhood in Madison, MS.
Move to Colorado or California is you want to commercially grow the dank.
I still can't believe the denied him bond, that's just crazy. FYI..Don't get caught in Madison county with any drugs...
I am not advocating the use of marijuana or any other drugs, but we are ***-backwards here in MS.
