Went to the AL-MS game and got to hang out along the sideline with a newspaper guy. Russell has been talking up State this week with Bumpis, Patterson, Lampley, and some others. Talked with Lampley directly and he said he will take his offical visit to State in January and the door is open for him to change his mind. Bumpis and Patterson will at least take a hard look at State. Bumpis had a good game and played well. Russell spent most of his time dodging AL d-linemen and struggled all afternoon. Norwood made a couple of big catches. State may not get them all but Mullen has talked to all of them multiple times this week (their words, not mine). Feb is a long way off, but our chances to pick up a couple of these guys are better than 50%. Mullen is not wasting any time and is aggressively recruiting players for his system. It is good to have a head coach that is working this hard on recruits.....

Miss. got killed in the trenches. It was odd, but the media guide had most of the OL and DL for AL "undecided" which usually means grades. But the two baddest OL for AL were committed to Alabama and South Alabama. The best OL on either side was D.J. Fluker, 6'7" 335 from Foley (played his soph. year @ Biloxi) was a man among boys. Wears a size 21 shoe and looked like a NFL player blocking a 7th grade honor student.,,,,,,,

drove him from the middle to the field to outside the numbers infront me and body slammed him like an old sack of bull feed..the Miss kid got up and said "that is a BIG mother<17>er" and trotted back to the line of scrimmage. I turned to my buddy we just both shook our heads. Fluker is the best OL I have seen since Richard Birch at Brandon.....and I think he could block circles around Birch.....
