Chris Garrett is on his way to Oxford now to gage the situation. Maybe Nutt decided against the QB from Oregon.

Regardless of what he does, Garrett can't play at a D-1 school this fall. He has to sit out a year wherever he goes. If Masoli came, he'd be done in after this semester.

Given that Cotton left, it might not be a bad idea for Garrett to come to Ole Miss.

I don't know his eligibility situation, but he'd have Mackey and Stanley to compete with in the spring of 2011, along with any incoming freshmen. I don't think Garrett is that good, but if he wanted to come, I'd take him, because I don't want our 3rd stringer in 2011 to be a true freshman.

You normally have 5 years to play 4, but his clock started with his '09 redshirt season, so he can't play past '13.</p>

If it was this past fall, then you're right. He'll have 3 to play 3 starting in 2011. It wouldn't be a bad spot for him to try if he is hoping for an outside shot at playing. Mackey's eligibility is up after 2011. Stanley will be a senior in 2012. He'd be a senior in 2013.

I don't think the guy is that good, but like I said, I'd take him for 2011 over what our current 3rd stringer is, likely a true freshman, Miller.

Garrett's HS graduation class was last year - '09. However, Chris finished a semester early and enrolled at LSU for Spring '09 for SP. He was a red shirt this past season, so I guess he'll be a redshirt freshman this fall (or will he?). Played with my sons. Good kid.

Of course he'd have to sit out that year as a transfer year, losing a year of eligibility, but he'd be able to play the following year. I doubt he'd beat out what we have, but it wouldn't hurt to have him.

ole miss also. if true lsu must be scared to death of garrett;s talent playing against them. regardless, he can go anywhere, he has to sit out regardless. the issue is who pays for the sit out yr. and no this has nothing to do with masoli. it has to do with a smallish gap in our parade of all american qb's from yr to yr. yes that is sarcasm.........
