...Collins is starting to come around and he is pretty solid defensively. I see why he is out there.

Frost does suck.

The lineup is not terrible tonight though. Thigpen's on the bench and sure enough Freeman with an RBI double in his first AB.

Guess who the only player is right now not to have a hit, RBI or to score a run - you guessed it...Frost.

Frost & Collins must have been reading their accolades on here. Frost struck out, then Collins grounded out with 2 on (he did advance the runners at least). Now to see if Parks can drive in 2 (9-3 MSU B5th)
</p>
ETA: Parks walked. Now Norris up with bases loaded.Crap, he flied out.

Thought about it, but I have some trivial things going on this weekend.
But, Thursday night dinner, I'm joining an old friend who works TDY at a plant in Arab, at Bridge Street.
An old roomie from back in the MSU day, who got his MBA from Vandy.
He and I made a baseball road trip from HSV to ATL in the late '60's when the Braves first landed; wish we could doNashville Saturday, but he's going home to Cincy.

how on Earth Frost managed to pull off a .250 batting average last year.

I thought Cody Freeman played his best game defensively behind the plate today- he picked off a runner, threw a guy out although I think it was a questionable call by the umpire, and he handled the pitching staff well. Wes Thigpen might be in trouble.

Because he hadI think 5 hits in one game againstsomeone like Valley. I bet his SEC avg was under .200. It is time to start getting Frazier or Henderson some playing time there when they don't play Vickerson there.

My assumption is that Cohen was keeping Freeman rested up so he can get through the SEC sched.

at the plate; 3rd on the team with a .345/.569/1.004. Hopefully he can keep it up in SEC play. But regardless, I don't see how Frazier and Henderson haven't gotten serious reps there when Vick isn't in the field. Hell, can Stark play 2b?

I actually liked last nights line up with the exception of Frost. I would move Vickerson permanently to 2B and let Shepard, Brownlee and Bradford take care of the OF. Bring in Stark when Bradford pitches.

And I agree Todd and Shmuley, hopefully last night was an indication of two things behind the plate: Freeman is better defensively than he has been and Cohen plans to play him over Thigpen when we roll into SEC play.

...their bat may not be any better, but they could be gaining experience. I am convinced that Frost is not ever going to amount to any more than a pinch runner for us. Time to let that ship sail.

And all of them- Demarcus, Frazier, and Stark are no worse than equal to Frost on defense.

Henderson and Frazier haven't hit well this year, but they also haven't really gotten a chance to hit much. I think if they get some at bats, and some more consistent playing time, we will probably end up being better off in the long run. Both have a higher ceiling as well- obviously much more talented.

How can we afford to keep somebody who is batting .167 against non SEC competition starting at 2nd in SEC play?

I say roll the dice with Taylor Stark or Henderson. I dont see Frost getting any better.

that will be a decent bench guy by the time he is a senior. His best position is probably pinch runner/late inning defensive replacement. He is a good bunter, but that should be the extent of his role.

But no, we can't afford to have him starting.

playing "up" to the competition. That still stinks to high heavan though I guess its certainly better than .167. Unless they are an Ozzie Smith type defensive player, anyone who can't hit .250 or better in college is just taking up space on your roster and that's all.

I normally agree with just about everything you say when it comes to baseball, but even you cant believe this. Frost could not play at Millsaps. Period. He has absolutely no business in hell even being on an SEC roster, let alone starting at 2B for us.
