He knows we're sending the runners, he HAS to swing to at least try to disrupt the catcher's rhythm in his throw to 3rd.

Unless that pitch is over your head or in the dirt. you've got to swing with the runners moving.

if it was I don't know that Renfroe could have reached it even to foul it off. It was tailing back toward the plate but I personally don't think it ever got back.

It very well may have been a ball, but if you're sending the runners with less than 2 outs you have to try to protect them if it's anywhere close.

There should be some form of punishment. I know it is elementary but running foul poles, hell, picking up all of the trash in one section of the stadium after the game.

We have made a season out of watching 3rd strikes go by and we continue to do it, time and time again.

Obviously we are not learning our lesson and *** chewings from Cohen to these guys have become so repetitious that they have zero impact.

There has got to be something where the next time they are at the plate with 2 strikes makes them think, I am not letting another close ball go by. It is sickening to watch.

a swing can sometimes affect the catcher's throw. Not always, but leaving the bat on your shoulder doesn't do a damn thing.

..add to your observations:

1) Swinging at the first pitch & into a routine out when the pitcher has been wild & walking people.

2) Trying to hit HR's every @bat when all you need is a couple of singles to get offensive momentum started.

3) Doing nothing at the plate with the bases loaded & 0 outs.

I could go on, but you get the pitcure.

MSU needs a new hitting coach in the worse way.

Will not mention his name, but he rolled his eyes when I said we need him at State as hitting coach...and said "tell me a bout it. don't get me started about the hitting."

I don't have a problem with the fly balls. I have a massive problem with our lack of aggression at the plate and the fact that we are content to watch strike 3 go by time and time again.

If you go to our games, there are even fans screaming "you have to swing the bat to get a hit" "swing the bat guys."

It is just baffling to me how big our vaginas are at the plate.

There's nothing elementary about that. Hitting a weak ground ball at least makes the defense have to make a play. There's no reason for backwards k's. I can understand it in the pros and maybe against a few dominant college pitchers, but there needs to be punishment.

IF that's what you think it is as the batter. Like I said I don't think it would have mattered had Renfroe swung because I don't think he could have gotten his bat on that ball anyway. Also, if the ump HAD called it a ball we would have been sitting with bases loaded and 1 out.

But the ump didn't call it ball. It was close enough, obviously, that it was called a strike. Again, you're job as a hitter in that situation (3-2 count, sending the runners) is to make damn sure you make contact if it's ANYWHERE close to being a strike. Which it obviously was. Thus the K LOOKING and the runner being thrown out. There's no excuse you can give me - none - that will make you right in that scenario.
