I've watched both games a few times snd what stands out to me is the team is good at the fundamentals of the game. They didn't start the season looking rusty or undisciplined. I like what I see, think we give USCe more than they can handle.

BTW, did anybody notice when the CBS camera took a field level view of the offense from behind our backfield, the sheer size of our OL before they got set was huge. We have had big OLs before but these guys can actually block.

I was thinking this had to be a big part of it. We looked so bad everywhere the last two years. Certainly bad talent makes every mistake look worse, but that couldn't have been all of it. Obviously it's easy to see why defense is better. That could just be arnett. But our Oline looked to be communicating also, despite being pretty much a new unit and despite having the same OL coach. Just nothing jumped out on either side of teh ball really that made you say "that's the kind of thing you expect early in the season". We looked to be just solidly coached all around. Very pleasant surprise. Hope we're not jinxing the **** out of it.

Just looked it up. We are the 2nd largest in the country and 1st in the SEC. Texas State is the largest in the nation at 337lbs average. Damn, that's big.

The only solace I took from last night's *** whipping KC gave my Broncos, was that State's open field tackling, is superior to Denver's weak attempts.

Except for the gimme field goal that we muffed that no one is talking about. That should have been automatic but looked like we practiced it maybe once in preseason.

What I liked seeing, is that when we did get beat on a passing play, we didn't let it beat us. We gave up more yardage than I would like on several plays, but we did not give up a lot of yards after a catch. Made some really good open field tackles that could've been killers otherwise.

It was a very high snap that threw the timing of the kick off. Ferrie had to wait an extra second for the holder to get the ball placed down, which allowed time for the defender to get back there and block it. I guarantee you we practice field goals. Every other kick this season has been perfect, including the 52 yarder Ferrie made earlier in the game. Bad snaps happen sometimes.
