Will the cuts in the Department of Education directly or indirectly affect high school sports. I’m sure funding comes from a variety of sources and wealthier areas may have more funding. Any insight on this?

Tread carefully with this subject sir, I started a thread on this a while back and was immediately labeled a communist 😂 . But on a serious note from what I've read cutting the Ed. Dept. will mainly have a negative impact on special needs children and poor children. Football should be fine. What WILL negatively impact public school sports is if VA starts allowing people to use vouchers to attend private schools, sucking even more funding from public schools. That would be the end of football for many public schools.

It depends on what is done with DOE's funding. They say it will simply be sent back to the states. So IF that happens then it depends on How the General Assembly and Governor decide to spend your tax money.

The General Assembly sees Education as a jobs program. And the grift is bigger than ever these days because people automatically equate more funding for education for a positive ROI in results (when in fact, kids are getting dumber and dumber). I could see this coming over a decade ago when I was a substitute teacher. And trust me, I don't want that old job back.

Kids are getting dumber & dumber? I suspect you mean in regard to certain specific topics or skills. The top half of students at any given school are just as bright as any previous generation.

I kinda snorted at the idea that your experience as a substitute teacher makes you a valued source on the topic. I do think that can be a tough job, but it surely doesn’t make you any sort of education expert. I’m sure you can take a mean attendance though…
