They got universally roasted for this X post of sports icons and ended up deleting it.

11 WNBA players
10 NFL players

Yes, the least popular professional sport has, at least according to ESPN, more icons than far away the most popular professional sport.

Weirdly, ESPN journalist Monica McNutt made the mural. Why? Nobody knows. The most notable thing about her is that she didn’t know who Barry Sanders was.

Even more weirdly, though McNutt made the mural, the most dominant golfer since Tiger (and considered by some to be approaching Tiger-level dominance), Scottie Scheffler, didn’t make the cut.

When I think of women's basketball and icons - only one name comes to mind - Pat Summitt. And I'm no fan of UT.

Other than the GameDay crew I have no use for any of them. The whole ESPN/Disney group is irrevocably worse. Even Snoop Dogg was upset after his grandson was asking how 2 women could have a baby in the latest Buzz Lightyear movie. How ridiculous. The left is indoctrinating our youth from college campuses all the way down to kindergarden(drag queen library shows anyone?), They have no shame.

Yep, but as @Debo77 noted above ESPN owns college football so if you want to watch college football, you're stuck supporting them to some extent. It's a terrible situation.

I see AJa in there. Is that Dawn along the very bottom (just right of center)? Also, is that Kamilla Cardoso in the upper left? It looks like her, but I don't know that she's made enough of an impact in the league to get herself on there.....

Lastly, shouldn't Lebron be depicted laying on the floor???

I think you have to include a man on the list of women's basketball icons: Geno Auriemma. 12 national championships, 24 final fours, 30 conference tournament championships, 31 conference championships.

Had the same thought, but I assume he was referring to women.

I would agree, for women, Summit is the only one who really comes to mind. I mean, when you use the term "icon" you're talking about an across-the-board all-time great. Summit is the only woman from WBB who can crack the list of across-the-board all-time greats for all sports. No WBB is an all-time great for all sports.
