He said people shouldn't read into where he is making his announcement.

"My plans are still to announce on (Jan.) 30th and to do it on the square in Oxford. I just have to make the best decision for me and I am not scared of those Ole Miss fans."

My sources are saying that there is a fan base that won't be very happy with Liggins decision. Book it.

do you try to psyche yourself out just so you'll bepleasantlysurprised if we land a recruit instead of having lots of hope and being devastated when a recruit is swayed?<div>
</div><div>Not...that I have anything against that. Just seems like you're trying a bit too hard some times.</div>

the facts are....he's from Oxford, his family his allegedly Ole Miss fans, and he's announcing on the Oxford Square. Oh yeah, Ole Miss also currently has a bigger immediate QB vacancy than we do. And apparently Freeze runs a spread too.<div>
</div><div>Do I think MSU is a better fit for him than Ole Miss? Maybe, but that doesn't change those first 3 facts I listed.</div>

And based on what I saw from Arkansas State in the Mobile Bowl- he fits our spread better than theirs.

Not to mention Dan has coached people like Tim Tebow and Alex Smith- and then he also coached Cam Newton for a year. And he has done a very good job at MSU with Chris freaking Relf and Tyler Russell- that would be pretty attractive to me if I was a QB. Did a good job with Chris Leak, too.

That's not to say I think he's a lock for us. I really couldn't say where I think he ends up or not. I'd like to have him, but whatever decision he makes, I hope it works out for him regardless. I just notice your posts on the subject of recruiting a lot and I must say, regardless if I agree on the outcome of a recruit or not, I tend to walk a way scratching my head.

Jeremy knows his math. 1/3 >1/8. Him announcing in [edit] makes it even more sweeter! <div>
</div><div>Edit: I edited your post because of a blatant Rule 18 violation. Don't do that.</div>

but if you're an 18 year old hotshot QB who wants to play immediately (they all do), and considering those Oxford facts I listed, it's not too inconceivable why I'd think that Liggins is a lock to Ole Miss. We have Russell and Prescott who Liggins likely can't beat out next year. Ole Miss may have 7 mfers on the roster but none have proven to be worth a **** yet.<div>
</div><div>All that to say, the kid is probably looking at next year when making his decision.</div>

he is 290 damn pounds and runs a 4.7 or better....he can play any damn thing he wants to play<div>
</div><div>Hopefully it will be for us...we are in the mix, and our chances are good right now- there is still a couple weeks to go...just got to wait it out</div>

and has had injuries. Not to mention the fact that Dan has played 2-3 QB's much of the time he has been coaching. Heck, he worked Mini-Favre into some games.

Dak hasn't done anything either- yet.

Ole Miss has 6 QB's on scholarship right now. We have 2. Him and Dak could run the same type of offense.

yes, he would be a beast to deal with playing QB in our system BUT I'm totally convinced we don't get him. He's just got too much pressure around him with friends and family and heck he was at the UM-Ark basketball game with a UM hat on. The ONLY thing that makes this not a Ward situation is that he doesn't have a family member already on the OM team needing a scholarship or other financial considerations BUT he's got much way more pressure around him to be a Reb than Ward ever had. I'll be the happiest guy around if he shocks everyone and comes with us but no way am I going to allow myself to have much hope on this one. For every one highly recruited Derek Pegues type recruit we get from around that area there is a multitude of guys we don't. And a lot of the reason is for fear of local harrassment. In fact even Pegues wouldn't verbally commit to us, he just signed with us on signing day without fanfare.

Funny you mention this, I was just thinking about it.
IMO this situation with Liggins is playing out ALOT like Pegues' commitment did. I'm still hoping for a similar result.

Karma is getting ready to pay the Rebs a visit after they've yelled from the rooftops about how "classless" we've been toward players that committed to them. May not be Liggins, but it will happen soon...

Not every one of the QBs that the Bears have hired (and will hire, possibly) will be a starter ... if that's what they're thinking they're in for a big surprise. Freeze will do just like Mullen ... play the best he's got.

If he announces for State, he better be.
