I heard today that David Padgett is the new head coach at North Oldham Middle School. Yet just a few days ago BOZO Bozich was touting him to replace the dude at IUPUI that was arrested for a DUI. BOZO and his “hot takes” are borderline delusional. I cannot really believe WDRB continues to employ him.

Which would be considered delusional? IUPUI hiring Padgett or Padgett leaving a middle school for a D1 job that he previously coached at?

I'll eat crow if that happens, but honestly can't see that scenario. Padgett was way too selective taking a coaching gig after the interim job here. Sealed his fate, therefore the middle school position is where he is.

Coaching middle school isn’t some end destination for him. He’s making his money and biding his time by owning/operating a basketball instructional camp. Perhaps he continues with that but I’d imagine he wants to get back into college coaching. I sure hope he does.

IMO, we have no clue the toll taken on DP that year. What an impossible situation. Considering all that he did a pretty damn good job. I’ll never forget the NIT experience.

He will be back. Apparently he considers Louisville home. He’s very involved in teaching the game to young kids even before this middle school job.

DP will become whatever he wants. He’s a winner.

I agree with PHCARD’s comments. Did DP deserve THE UofL job - no. But he did deserve to be hired by some college somewhere where he could prove his worth as a coach. If that were to fail then it would all be on him. I heard him speak at a church about two or three months after his interim year and he was seemingly all good with the decision of AD Tyra. He even mentioned the disasterous uahkay game that season - and it was an unmitigated disaster and had a good sense of humor about it.

DP got the job because thats who the players wanted. They could have quit or transfer if anyone else was named.

DP is a very likable guy and our athletic department was under a great deal of pressure. CDP did a creditable job but no where enough to get the full time gig. He knows that and I still hope that he lands a college coaching job sooner rather than later. Just not here at THE UofL.

I agree.
He was under horrendous circumstances, including some players wanting easier practices.

I’m with you! I’ve always liked David! He was in a very tough situation, many factors where against him being successful... at least not right away. But he was always a great representative for Uofl.
