its just going to be the best sporting venue ever built and will probably be able to sit more people for any championship basketball game ever. please explain why it would possibly be a disaster.

just like the Georgia dome, the sightlines are terrible throughout a lot of the place. Players don't like playing in them either, and find them hard to shoot in.

Holding the most people does not equal a great venue. Not to mention, ole Jerry doesn't even have the money to finish it right now. He is working on the financing though.

BCS National Championship game and the Final Four. First time since the BCS started that this will happen. Pretty cool.

this is the first i've ever hear of this. the final four has been held in the rca dome for years and i've never heard a complaint.... and syracuse seems to do fine in the carrier dome. and technically jerry's world is not a dome.

it could hold 50,000 people and still be the greatest venue ever built. i don't mean to sound like a sheep of jerry's but this thing really will be badass. jerry has the money to finish (i don't where that came from). the thing is near completion. between jones (a billionaire), the nfl giving him $150 million and the city of arlington forking over $325 million, the money is there.

(1) it is very common for teams to complain about the sight lines in dome setups. if this is the first you've heard of it, then you haven't been listening. the same happened when the bulls opened united arena - the lower bowl didn't have as much of an incline as the other nba arenas, and teams had to get accustomed to it. depth perception through the clear backboard has something to do with it. also, the seats are designed to see a full length football field. they're not aimed at only half of the field. thus, sightline issues.

(2) syracuse is the home team. they should be used to the carrier dome.

(3) jerry's world is a dome. a dome with a retractable roof.

(4) the stadium was estimated to cost $1B. that's a lot more than the $475M you account for in nfl and city money. and how often do construction projects (especially this large) meet their budget? i also don't think jerry is planning on dropping a half billion on this stadium - but maybe he is.

1. and 2. sure, whatever. its not going to stop the fact that basketball games will be held there. 3. i said technically 4. i don't see him writing a check for a half bill either but a billionaire thats in the public's eye so much having a problem financing $600 mill for such a venture as this is almost a stretch. especially when no one anywhere ever has reported him having problems finishing it due to "the money not being there". the damn thing is almost finished. i live in the dfw area and have yet to hear about a work stoppage in arlington due to financial problems. and not to mention the naming rights (at&t) has yet to be made official and god knows how much he will get from that. i just think what he said was factually wrong...thats all i was trying to convey.

Obviously, I'm not factually wrong. It is hard for anyone to get a loan like that right now. There is some sort of credit crunch going on I hear...
And I don't know how you haven't heard of it, it's been news on sports talk here in San Antonio for weeks.

3. i said technically
"dome" refers to the structure of the roof, like an inverted bowl. which is what new texas stadium will have. you could make an argument that Reliant is not a dome, because the roof is flat. that argument doesn't apply to new texas stadium.

you said that new texas stadium is not technically a dome, arguing that the "dome effect" if you will, won't apply. but your only basis is that technically, it has a retractable roof, so it is a "retractable roof stadium", not a "dome". right?
well that makes no sense. the "dome effect" is in no way due to the roof. it's due to the seating and open areas around the court and behind the goals.
