Looking at who MSU could play in 2016 and 2017 by looking at fbschedules...
High possibilities:
Boston College - Only two nonconference games scheduled in 2016 and both against non-Big 5 conference competition and the ACC like the SEC has an 8 + 1 requirement.
North Carolina - Only one nonconference game scheduled in 2016 against Illinois.
Texas Tech - One nonconference game to schedule - the most Mississippi Stateiest possibility of the bunch...
Medium possibilities:
Clemson - Only two nonconference games scheduled in 2016 but one is, of course, South Carolina.
Florida State - Only two nonconference games scheduled in 2016 but one is Florida.
Miami - Only one nonconference game left to schedule in 2016
Syracuse - Two nonconference games scheduled - but one is against Notre Dame.
USC - Needs a nonconference opponent... Unlikely but weird things happen...
Washington - Needs a nonconference opponent... Again, unlikely.
Low possibilities:
Arizona: Only possible since the Ninja is their AD. Since a series is already scheduled, I doubt that the Wildcats will be scheduled.
Cal-Berkeley: The Bears will likely play an FCS team.
Georgia Tech: Scheduled to play two SEC schools in 2016.
Kansas: One game to schedule but likely FCS.
Louisville: Only one game left to schedule. Likely a FCS game?
Oklahoma: One game left to schedule and they don't play FCS schools generally...
Pittsburgh: Has games scheduled against Penn State and Oklahoma State
Rutgers: One game to schedule in 2016 but 2017 is problematic
Wake Forest: One game left to schedule.
West Virginia: One game to schedule but it'd only be one game as the Mountaineers have one game available for 2017 which will likely be against an FCS team.
Not expected:
Baylor, Duke, Iowa State, Kansas State, North Carolina State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Most of the Big 10, and Most of the Pac-12...
