Don’t usually post, just read. But I’ve got a family tie in the building and after last night Franklin was heated. Word is he told admin no more White Outs until the team proves it. Apparently even brought it up in a closed-door meeting this morning. Could just be frustration, but if they lay an egg vs OSU he doesn’t want one next year.

Take it for what it’s worth, but the idea of pulling the White Out feels way off base. That’s not the problem

I can't say, but it seems that Franklin's teams experience discipline breakdowns resulting in either a broken coverage or giving up a big play. Can anyone here comment on this who has some insight?

It’s a good idea but it will punish players who had nothing to do with all the losses. I’d use it for homecoming or something against an opponent we’re likely to beat. James should take a pay cut à la Harbaugh and donate some money to NIL too.

Adidas right now…

Are coaches able to donate to the NIL collectives?

Lanning says environment not a factor. Welp.

A few things to share:

1) That outburst sounds completely Franklinesque. He publicly takes ownership of the loss and then proceeds to throw someone or something else under the bus behind closed doors.

2) I read a few message boards from other teams this morning. A number of them claimed that Lanning is addicted to something. They all pointed to certain behaviors related to said addiction. 🤷‍♀️

3) James "Used Car Salesman" Franklin is feeling the heat....and deservedly so.

Crazy you say that.
My son and I were at the game and said the same. Said facial expressions during on field post game interviews and the throat slash were being discussed. Not sure where he read it.

We noticed on the tv broadcast that Lanning was sweating the entire game. You could see it on his face and forehead. It was odd, but hey, he won.

He is saying the team doesn’t deserve the white out. “Until they prove themselves” worthy, I guess for the special atmosphere.

lanning said it was a great environment but they were coached so well it wasn’t a factor. I never once saw Moore walk up to the line to change a play etc with less than 15 seconds left. Other QBs have and the crowd gets louder causing a problem. Heck allar seemed more jittery and it was silent.

He’s wrong. Without the White Out they’d have beaten us by at least 3 times that (21).

On the other hand, I’ve seen some National reporters say with Beau behind Center, we would have beaten Oregon by at least 10. Almost everyone agrees that if we had a QB with some mobility that could hit the broad side of a barn, we win.

A mobile QB with accuracy like Trace McSorley would make this Offensive Line and group of receivers look infinitely better because he would, as Dan Lanning himself says, make the defense have to play 11 on 11 instead of 11 on 10.

I won't pretend to know what goes through the player's heads, but I think the whiteout adds a whole other layer of pressure to the mix. I better play well b/c it's the biggest game of the year, as opposed to treating it like any other week.

Ehhhhh, the White Out has been done for twenty plus years now but if the networks want, the Big Ten Commissioner wants it, and the University wants it for marketing efforts, it’s going nowhere.

I have been saying this for a few years now. The Franklin coached teams seem undisciplined and sloppy through the years which, to me, is main reason they can't get over the hump. I have been a live for a long time and learned in my ute when it comes to sports(and in business and life), it is taking care of the little things, the little details, that puts you over the top and makes you more successful. Franklin coached teams do not appear to take care of the little things(assignments, footwork, schemes, angles, pass routes, scouting in detail, could be many different little things but who knows unless you are inside the program).

One would assume that they don’t take care of the little things because they spend half their time practicing gadget plays.

Let's look at the facts from Franklins tenure, QBs seem to regress under Franklin, Hack, Clifford, and now Drew. Trace just had pure athletic talent to free style when needed. Also, why when QBs leave, they are successful in other programs. Does Franklin keep trying to insert a square peg into a round hole? Why aren't any of these xfer'd receivers not open in our offense? Why isn't Drew coached to throw the ball away(like on that screen pass that lost 9 yards on Saturday instead of trying to force the throw when there are 4 defenders in the area that read the screen play like book?) Also, was Oregon cheating signals because they seemed to be in the perfect position to disrupt the offensive play call of PSU? I have lots of questions but most likely will never be answered.

The criticism in this post of Allar is hysterical then using Trace as an example of accuracy when he lived on 50/50 balls. Let's give Drew the same weapons Trace had.

You hit on something my friend. "Who knows....". I've said many times, going back to Joe's tenure, that the media covering Penn State football is soft. Typically you have one or two reporters who are hard hitters and don't peddle fluff, but asks the tough questions and writes the stories that may not be popular with the coaching staff but are truthful and meaningful to their audience. Anyway....just IMHO.

Perhaps Oregon in film study picked up tendencies of PSU like OL stances, hand positions, and other tendencies that gave away pass or run, etc?

Dave Jones and Corey Giger both would write critical stuff and ask questions that Franklin/Joe didn't want asked, and they are despised. Audrey Snyder is usually pretty positive but when she pressed Frankling on the sexual assault stuff last year, she was blasted by most here. I don't think the fanbase will support someone that is a "hard hitter".

You made the key statement. “Trace just had pure athletic talent to free style when needed.” That’s EXACTLY what Donte Moore had on Saturday.

You switch QBs on Saturday and give them Drew and we take Donte, we blow them out of the freakin stadium. Drew couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn and they knew it. Plus he was no perceived running threat because he had handed the ball off to RBs into traffic instead of taking advantage of obvious open QB run holes all year. When he actually took advantage of a couple of QB run holes in the 4th quarter, magically, the offense started to click.

You're giving way too much credit/blame to the QB. If Moore had pressure coming at him (especially from the inside...any pressure that we generated was from the edge, and we didn't do a great job in not allowing him to get out of the pocket when we did get some edge pressure) that Drew had coming at him, he would have looked much different. Oregon gave Moore a lot of quick, easy reads all night too...Drew had very few of those.

The criticism in this post of Allar is hysterical then using Trace as an example of accuracy when he lived on 50/50 balls. Let's give Drew the same weapons Trace had.

Drew had two get out of jail free cards last year he doesn’t have this year. Tyler Warren and Beau Pribula.

Warren was a versitile weapon that could run anything from Wildcat to fullback. He had to be double covered or he would kill you. He was big target that had fantastic hands and good speed for his size. He was able to catch a lot of poorly thrown balls in double coverage most human beings can’t. Oregon would have had to game plan for him and wasted a guy in coverage or as a spy they didn’t have to do on Saturday.

Last year we had a Beau package we could bring in in short yardage situations or to change things up and loosen up stingy defenses. It avoided having opposing DLs to be able to just tee off on our OL without having to think first. This year we don’t have that and other teams know it. Basically, this year, we are an opposing defensive coordinator’s dream.

Sorry man, but that Oregon team was beatable. You switch each team’s QBs and styles, we win that game handily.
