FVC team will have an upset in the semis, either PR over Montini or CG over GW

Great pre game analysis on both teams. One comment about Batavia. I saw them this season. Their defense was pretty good, but not nearly as fast as GW. I think GW defense is the best overall defense I've seen this year, especially after half time adjustments. That said, I also think CG defense will give GW offense a real game. Everyone needs to hold on to the ball. If either team finds irself down by 14, it'll be very difficult to come back. So my prediction, first team up by 14 wins.

I for one have never taken the FVC lightly, in fact last year's CG team may well be one of the best teams to not win a championship, ever. You really have to hand it to PC for winning that game, wow I still think about that one.

Thanks Edgy for putting CG at 8 this week. Funny how CG didn't sniff the top 20 until they beat Benet. Now they're a good team? They did go 8-1 and lost to a pretty darn good Huntley team. Oh well, polls say Barack is a good president... I am a tried and true blue CG homer and this playoff run has been great. The Batavia match up had me ready to hang up my pom poms but here they are. GW is going to be damn tough. Pennington is a stud but Brodner is a stud's stud. If we pull it out, super. Hell, who thought this team would come this far after losing so many starters?

Hell yes. I'm a grown man with 3 kids and I get more excitement out of HS football than college or the pros. Perhaps it's because I've seen CG rise from the joke of the Fox Valley to a program everyone in the conference emulates. It really is an amazing program from youth to high school. Let's hope they make a showing this Saturday.

CG,

I attached the CG/Benet highlights here where Weidenbach says They hit harder than us(Benet) the first half... We had a blast with you guys last year down in Champaign the night before states and at the game...good luck on Saturday.

Cap had a good analysis of CG. Defense probably very similar to GW's in terms of flocking to the ball and hitting hard, despite being undersized (Benet's stud RB/LB said smallest team they faced but they hit harder than anyone they faced). Pennington can be stopped and the difference this year is he is not running behind the O line they had last year. Not to take anything away from this year's CG O line, but they're not T. Ruhland, Gomez and Topal.

While I love TP as CG's fullback, he is no Brodner, but then again, who is? CG needs to be able to run the ball and GW has proven it is tough to do so against them. CG hasn't faced a Brodner, and not sure GW has faced a team that can run the ball as well as CG does with the option. Will CG be able to run the ball outside like they did against Batavia, as that is what did Batavia in last week?

Defense will win this game all day long. Should be a good one. Hope CG can hang with GW.

Hadn't seen those clips so thanks for sharing, jwar. While I love watching football in snow and crappy weather, I do wish the forecast was clear so we could see these two teams under ideal conditions. Hope to see you in Champaign.

I've never taken the FVC lightly, and in fact love the CG program. My respect for PR is equal, although a bit newer. Mr. Corcoran and the good Sir Folliard introduced me to the PR way. Beautiful field views as well.

My biggest qualm with anything FVC is the constant clamor about them doing this all with less talent. Sure, not many skills and corners are coming out of it, but the there have been many legitimate FBS talents out of the area for years (even if they play at a lower level). And frankly, the FBS vs FCS/DII delineation is stupid. Any kid getting a scholarship to play football is not only impressive, but also makes a player one heck of a high school player. These rosters, and even D3 (which is also a big deal in re: to HS talent) are littered with FVC kids.

Looks like FVC goes 0-2 today. I was at the snow bowl at GS, and I've gotta say thar CG was completely outplayed in every play except 1. GW 's defense dominated the CG offense, allowing for the Sam Brodner show to take over the game. On to Dekalb.

Montini in a come back win. Well coached. Weather subsided and passing game with Justin Blake and prince walker was too much for PR. I will say. Half the time I had no idea while had the ball when they ran a play. That 3 option offense is well run, but so is the bronco defense.

Good luck to C-G next year. Those juniors are beasts. Not sure all those two way players had much in the tank by the end today, but I would not want to play those dudes next year.

Good undefeated sophomore team coming up too, so should be pretty solid next year. GW in a different class and too much too handle. Good luck against Libertyville next week, Cap.

I'm really hoping PR goes to 7A next year. Tough and young. They will be ready next year.

I think that CG and PR will both be really strong next year based upon the number of returners they have along with the upcoming sophomore classes.
